The Debate
One of my most memorable trips was one where we left for a week with no plan in mind other than a date to meet friends outside of Elmira NY on Tuesday, the rest of the time we just looked at the map in the morning and decided where we wanted to go and enjoyed the scenery. We took I-83 to Harrisburg and then hit the back roads up into NY State and came all the way back down to Annapolis without getting on the interstate.
Now, traveling with the RV I like getting to our destination so the interstate has its place! But I do enjoy traveling the back roads no matter where we are.

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
I have to agree that Interstates are great for long trips, but the country roads are special. Sometimes on long trips, I have even gone on country roads that run parrallel to the Interstate for brief intervals just to get a feel for the different areas I was traveling through. Many years ago even locally, I would take a road just to see where it went. That is how I really learned my way around many parts of Maryland. My Mom's family is from Eastern Kentucky and we would visit there when I was young. I learned a lot about rural areas during those days and the trips to get there and back home. With Interstates, you can miss a lot if interesting places to stop and explore.
it really depends on where I'm at. For example, I work in Frederick and live in Hagerstown. On fridays, the traffice going west on interstate 70 is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! so I work my way over to route 40 and take that home instead. I like the drive there on that road. and I can take that all the way to my house.
probably my most FAVORITE road to drive on is a lonely country road. a great one I've been on is the most northern road in Ontario Canada......it's just peaceful because there's nothing around but just you and God. It's really a nice way for me to commune and be at peace. Not to mention watching for Moose because you hit one of those and your car is totalled! LOL

I don't know if I can answer this because of a conflict of interest!!! I work for the Maryland State Highway Administration
so I have to say our state's beautiful interstates and don't anyone complain about the traffic we do what we can LOL
. Personally I would love to ride when I have time on a long country road with beautiful scenery especially in the fall when all the leaves change!
