She has been diagnosed with stage III B Cancer;

Cheri's cancer has been staged at 3B. This is pretty advanced (I looked it up, will include some info I found a bit below). It is in her breast (obviously), but has also spread into the chest wall and lymph nodes. Treatment course is mastectomy, radiation, and chemo. Survival prognosis at 5 years is 50% (or "grim" as her doc said).

Stage IIIB describes invasive breast cancer in which:
- the tumor may be any size and has spread to the chest wall and/or skin of the breast AND
- may have spread to axillary lymph nodes that are clumped together or sticking to other structures, or cancer may have spread to lymph nodes near the breastbone
- Inflammatory breast cancer is considered at least stage IIIB.

oh cira, that is such sad news. luckily most people i have ever known with breast cancer have not had it spread into the nodes, so they are mostly survivors. i have to very sadly say that the two ladies closest to me that did have their breast cancer spread into their nodes are not here with us today.

My mother was a breast cancer survivor. She had a mastectomy done and the cancer had not spread her lymph nodes. She unfortunately died of a different cancer almost 17 years later.
I know what you mean it is a grim prognosis. I am praying for some type of miracle for the sake of her family. This is so hard on her right now.
My heart aches for her right now.
