This is a great walk, I did this last year when I was 5 weeks post-op.  I was hoping to run it this year but it looks like I am going to be walking it, unless this leg starts healing quicker.  I will be there.  I encourage everyone to go, this is our walk!  This is really good support and there is a ton of info you can get out of this.  I hope to see you and everyone else there.  I am still thinking about walking the Silver Spring walk from obesity.

You posted this when I was correcting it to read Silver Spring.  I think the one I had posted before is farther away.  It was not listed as being in MD.  Maybe it's in VA?  Anyway, now my post shows the Silver Spring walk.

I don't think there is one for Maryland this year, they are not able to find a hospital willing to support it.  That is really sad.  Last year there was a boat load of people and Maryland raised a good amount of money.  Well I guess it is off to Silver Spring unless someone jumps up to the plate but no one thus far.
Thanks Jen

Silver Spring is in Maryland.  I grew up right near there in Rockville, MD.  Holy Cross Hospital is sponsoring it.  I can't even walk this year, but thought I'd pass it on to everyone.

The one on Natalie's website said Bon Secours was sponsoring it, but when I went to find exactly where it was being held, since I didn't know where "harbor view" was but thought it was in Baltimore.  It said that walk is in Suffolk, VA.

i am all about research and treatment programs, etc.... but i would love to see something like this set up in baltimore to raise funds to help those that cannot afford the surgery and desperately need it.  to legally raise charitable funds for someone requires establishing a non-profit and getting licensed and establishing a board, etc.  our girl scout district did it to help one of our senior leaders when she had cancer and it was amazing to me how much work went into just setting it up legally.  so it would be nice to see an existing non-profit pick up this cause and properly screen and manage *****ceives the benefits.

That is the same thought I had..wouldn't it be great if there were a fund for uninsured people who need surgical Obesity treament, just like there is in some states for people who need Cancer, Mental ilness,  or Diabetes treatment?  Of course there are funds for infectious diseases like Hepatitis or Aids or TB already, but those are contagious.
For now I'm just so happy that there is actually a walk for obesity.  I have never seen obesity featured this way before and it's nice to see it being referred to as a medical condition.

I want to walk but I was hoping to car pool from Annapolis, Severna Park, Glen Burnie , Bowie that area. Let me know if anyone is willing. The only thing that could change that for me is my Mom she is being treated at Shady Grove which I notice is also sponsoring the walk too. If she wants to meet up I would then want to meet you all at the walk if that was ok. I think she will be to far int her chem and to sick to do anyything so I think I will just be going. Yesterday my Mom, sister and I went to Ellicott city to spend the day before she was to sick to do that stuff.. We had a great day. Cancer is a horrible, horrible thing and this is so hard but if I have to find a positive I would say it is bringing us so much closer. We met about  20 or so yrs ago but only in the last couple years after my surgery and my Mom's mom passing have we been getting closer. We always eamiled some and stuff but it is changing and I like it. Now we are alll trying to pull together and we are really getting close..
I am trying very hard to make sure my Mom (I grew up with ) isn't hurt. I don't tell her all we do and she refuses to get a computer and has no idea how to use one but I would not want to hurt her but I love my Mom and sister.  Anyway, I wen**** OT sorry.  I hope we can carpool and hook up.Let me know if anyone is willing I would love to do this walk.

Hi everyone!

I did this walk last year with my 11 year old son in Baltimore.  We had a great time and I am disappointed to see that it's not being held in Baltimore this year.  I would definetely be interested in doing the walk in Silver Spring and would welcome any new friends on here to come along too!

I live in Baltimore County, Middle River/White Marsh, so if anyone is interested in meeting up and carpooling, the more the merrier!

Hope to hear from some of you!

My husband and i would love to do the walk.  We  both had VSG's.  I need to know how far the actual "walk" is...how far do u walk?  I have MS and can only walk a short distance.  But, if they will let me, i can use my scooter and "ride" from obesity while my husband walks by my side.
