a person at my work....

I saw her recently and she looks great, has lost a lot of weight so I approached her and gently asked her how she did it and she said she had a gastric bypass, so I am thrilled for her and let her know how great she looks, and she starts off kind of ranting about other people and how they have treated her, and now every time she sees me, we ride the subway to work together a lot and she mentions how people act like they don't know her and watch everything she eats and how I am the only one who makes her feel good about what she did...and she acts very grateful, she does not go online or I would tell her about this place but I feel bad for her that people treat her that way....sigh...

Char,

You know it is so true.  Unfortunately people do act like that.  What ticks me off that if I am with someone who knows I had gastri bypass and I am going to eat something they'll say something like. You know you are not suppose to eat that!  I was having a chicken fajita from McDonalds.. I asked the person who killed my nutritionist and all of the sudden made her mine.  That was the end of that.
Most people who are not educated about weight loss surgery and have negative feelings about it will watch every move you make cause they sit there waiting to see if it was not successful so they can throw it in your face.

I just don't care what they think now and I do not discuss anything about my weight loss with those type of people.  it used to bother me a lot before but not anymore. I am glad I did this for Me!

Glad your coworker has you to help her feel good about her decision.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
Those that mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.

I have told very few people at work  around my familuy.  People are not smart when I come across them and I what a positive effect surgery that on people.  Or the nurses I work with taking patients who have had WLS.  The nurses have nothing to say that is a possitive.  Many times they dread caring for them.  So in my line of work it i hard to tell people what I have had done.  I just have found it to be easier this way.
