get a surgery date from the time of your first appointment until your surgery date? My insurance with my new job starts Sep 1. It's Aetna if that makes a difference. Thanks for an input!

My first appointment with the surgeon was February 11th.  My surgery date was June 10th.  I did not have a mandatory six-month diet program before my surgery, but I had other non-medical delays until I had my surgery.

Good luck to you!

I have Aetna also, although all insurances are different even with the same carrier.  My aetna requires you to do a 6 month supervised Diet.  I started Jan 4th, my paperwork just went to insurance for approval yesterday.  There are lots of hoops you have to jump through for insurance.  But it is all worth it.  Good luck.

My first consult with the surgeon was on June 6th . I had my approval by June 12th, allthough didnt realize it till later. My surgeons office tried to schedule my surgery for August and Sept but due to work and other constraints I am not having surgery till Oct.

I did not have to do a 6 month supervised diet, and I had United Healthcare which I am lucky because they were so easy to work with!

Good luck. It will be worth it.

my first appointment was at the end of april.  my request for approval was sent a week after my last appointment at the end of june.  i was approved in less than three days and my surgery was july 15.  different surgeons and different insurance plans insist on either three months or six months of supervised weight loss before they will do the surgery/approve you.  i immediately crossed surgeons that require a six month wait off my list.

My first consult was 7/24. Insurance was submitted on 9/24, approved on 10/26, and my surgery was 12/5. I also have Aetna. They required a 3 month supervised diet and exercise program (called multi-diciplinary in their legal mumbo jumbo).
Hugs!

Once I switched to Aetna, I had already completed a 6 mo program, but they would have required 3 mos, like Kathy described above.  From the consult 4/28  to  7/23 getting approved and scheduled for surgery it took 3 months.  I had to get a new psych eval because mine had expired and I had to get in to see the new nutritionist once.  Then the office staff and the insurance co took forever to get it together, over 4 weeks.  Finally I was approved!  My surgery is 10/2.
