Need to get LEEP procedure done
Hi all, as some of you might remember, I posted about having to get a colposcopy done because of an abnormal pap smear. Well, the results came back and were not conclusive so my gyn is going to do a minor procedure on me called LEEP where they burn the abnormal cells off the cervix and also do a biopsy to figure out what it might be. That will be the second week of September. My parents are coming down, which will be nice. They were wonderful support during my RNY surgery. I am not freaking out about it until I have something to freak out about. I'll be glad when it's over though!

I went through a very scary time with a series of Class 4 paps back in 1988 (seems like a REALLY long time ago now .. ). I had to have a colposcopy that came back with severe dysplasia/pre-cancerous cells. When the gyn did the follow up pap about 6 weeks after, it came back clear. Apparently the colposcopy got all the cells (what is the chance of that??). I did have to go every 3 months for 2 years then 2 to 3 times a year for the next 3 years before I was released for just annual paps.
It's good not to freak (though it's a whole lot easier to tell someone not to worry until there is something to worry about than it is not to wory). You've got a whole network of friends here to support you and freak out for you so you can concentrate on YOU!
Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
Nicole:
I'm with Mo, it's so easy to tell someone not to frea****il you are on the receiving end. I think you know, but I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer in my early 30's. The most difficult part about the ordeal was the waiting. So here are my words of wisdom "Try not to freak while you are waiting." It could and probably will turn out to be nothing, but as soon as you hear that word "cancer" (I don't care if it has "pre" in front of it) it makes us crazy. I'm here if you need to talk. You must believe and don't stop living your life while you're waiting.
BIG HUGS!

When we believe, all things are possible!
Hey girl,
My friend had the Leep procedure and after that nothing else. She just got checked every few months then back to yearly check ups.
I agree with Mo and Lisa.
I am glad you are not freaking out. The good thing is that your dr has everything under control.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
Those that mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.

Nicole, good mindset to have, no freaking until you need to and even then you have plenty of support here and locally to help you through. Is the LEEP an in office procedure? I know your parents are coming down, but if anything happens and you need someone just let me know. You know you're just a hop, skip and jump away!
(((Nic))) I'm glad you aren't freaking out (if you are telling the truth, lol). Everyone here is sending positive thoughts, you know we are. It will be great for you to have some quality time with your parents. In the meantime, just keep up all of your great work. You look great! I'm so thrilled to finally get to meet you last weekend.
Hugs!
