OK Questions for people who may have traveled recently;

I know you have too put shampoos and conditioners and such in small plastic
bottles -  how about makeup :  LOL after investing a small fortune in Bare Minerals
last weekend I refuse to surrender it  -  I saw some small plastic containers
that might work -  but my question is can I just leave it in the current containers
and take it like that ?

Darla:

Here's the info from the TSA

With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint.

  1. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.
  2. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
  3. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

Darla,

I believe the container issue is only if you are carrying it onboard.  If you are packing in your luggage to be checked those rules do not apply.   I may be wrong on that but you might want to check it out.

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I think you're right.  Only in your carry on.  I always carry on my makeup.  Never want to be seen without it. (LOL)

If you check in your bag you do not have to worry about the size.  I always check in a bag but I travel with everything but the kitchen sink.

I went to Southwest's website and found the baggage info. We get 2 bags, which is a relief! As far as the makeup, what about bringing a bigger purse and putting it in there? Are you limited as to what can go in there too? I'm a minimalist, lol. I use shampoo and soap, and lotion and that's about it.

Baggage

Checking Your Luggage

Each ticketed Customer may check up to two pieces of luggage, and we will usually transport them free of charge. To be carried at no charge, the maximum aggregate dimensions of any single item should not exceed 62 inches or weigh more than 50 pounds.

You may incur additional fees for larger or heavier items and for items that require special handling. For example, a $50.00 charge may apply to some types of sporting goods, including bicycles, vaulting poles, and surfboards. If you check more than two allowable items, your third (3 the fourth (4th) through ninth (9th) bag or item will be assessed a charge of $50 per piece. Each piece thereafter will be charged $110 per item. Our Reservations Sales Agents or our web site can provide additional information about which sporting items can be transported in lieu of checked luggage.

Hugs!

Thank God we get two bags checked LOL  -  I know last time I went on a cruise I had a garmet
bag and a reg. suitcase .  I always overpack for some reason:  I am limiting myself to
two packed pairs of shoes this time LOL  One for evening and  a pair of sneakers for
walking the deck LOL    I figure on putting shampoo, makeup, toiletrees and shoes
in a carry on bag.  I am so excited  I just cann't wait

Darla, if the Bare Ess make up is all powdered make up you are fine, you can take that on board with you no problem.  The problem comes when it is liquid make up and foundation, then you are limited to 3 oz or smaller all in 1 quart size zip lock bag.  All liquids that are carried on must me 3 oz or less and in the quart sized bag and pulled out for security to inspect with the xray machine.

Have a wonderful trip.

Deanna

Christ in you the hope of Glory!!!!
