WOW MOMENTS HERE
There have been so many both big and small. Here are those that I can think of quickly:
* Wearing pants with a button and zipper for the first time instead of elastic waistbands.
* Going to a concert at the Ravens Stadium and fitting in the seats (and having a great time in the process!).
* Going kayaking for the first time and the process of realizing that this is something that I can do and enjoy. I never would have ever thought of doing something like this before.
* No longer using my handicap parking tag because I can walk from any part of the parking lot as well as an entire Mall now. In the past I would become severely winded and have bad knee and back pain.
* Discovering exercise as something I can do. it was hard in the beginning and I still have lots of room for continued improvement, but the difference in my gym activities has expanded tremendously.
* Wearing a bathing suit and enjoying the water again. I had not done this for decades. I really love the water and had missed this.
* Discovering bones I either did not know I had or had lost sight of for a long time.
* Realizing that people were no longer looking at me because I was fat. Instead they were looking at me because I am tall. It has been amazing how many people did not realize how tall I was until I lost weight.
* Being able to buy clothes off the rack again. I used to be plus size catalog only. I could not even shop at the plus sizes stores around town.
* Buying a belt for the first time. Not only did it fit, but I actually needed it for my jeans to keep them up!
* Getting rid of so many of my meds almost immediately after surgery (diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma, reflux, anti-inflamatories, etc.)
* Saying yes to offers from friends to participate in trips and/or activities without being concerned about how much I would have to walk, if there would be a someplace to sit, and whether I would be able to fit in the seats.
* Rediscovering my jewelry box. I love jewelry of all kinds. I had stopped wearing a lot of it because of fit. Now that is so much less of an issue and I am having fun playing with it all again.
I am sure there are many other things that I am forgetting at this moment. One of my goals when I started this journey was to simply "get my life back". Although I am still working on my weight loss, I have to say that I feel like I have met this initial goal. My life has become so much richer. And this experience has also brought me new friends to further enrich my life. Thank you all!
