PLAYTIME'S OVER, TIME TO KICK IT IN!!!

It has been quite a while since I posted here and even longer since I started an excercise thread.  Actually, because of a lack of responses to the excercise thread, I was ready to just drop it and consider it a failed project.  Then, in the last week or so, I received a couple of pm's wondering where I've been and why no excercise thread.  After thinking about it, I realized that I HAD TO do the excercise thread.  It's something that is needed for EVERYBODY here.  It leads to accountability.  Besides, I care too much to just give in.

So, like it or not, I am back.  Back for good.  I read Terri's post about where has everybody gone.  I must admit, from lurking here the last month or so, I have to agree.  It seems the group we had when I first moved to Maryland is dwindling down.  Or, at least, not nearly as active.  Come on people, support is HUGE.  This is a great group.

As for my plans for today, well, I need this thread as much as anyone.  You see, I have let myself fall off the wagon the last couple weeks.  I haven't run AT ALL and my only real form of excercise has been walking the dog.  I noticed yesterday that my back was acting up and couldn't figure out why.  Then I thought about it. That's what has always happened my whole life when I put a couple pounds back on.  So, today I started the 5 Day Pouch Test and rededicated myself to ME.

I'm going to start off slowly, just a 3 mile walk and progress during the week.  By the end of the week I hope to be up to a 5 mile jog.  If you all have been dogging it lately, today is the perfect day to get going again.  It's a Monday and the weather is perfect.  Those doing the 5K with us on October 5th, you've got less than two months to get yourself into shape - or at least better shape.  What are you all doing today?

Welcome Back Andy;

August 1st I started a program I had suggested to me by a friend;

Our 30/30 plan - 30 visits to the gym in 30 days -
I didn't go Saturday but I did twice what I normally do on Friday and Sunday
so I did get a good workout this weekend.

Todays plan is 1 hour on the treadmill / weight circuit - then a stress relieving Tai chi
class to fini**** off with.

Take care everyone

Hey Aaron, I'm glad I could help.  We all fall off the wagon from time to time.  I know I've done it several times in the 2 1/2 years since I've been out, but I am proud to say I've picked myself up, dusted off and got right back on.  That's the best thing about falling off - it's your life and you have the ability to get right back on.  I know you've worked extremely hard to get to where you are and we will not let you fail.  Go take a walk and start getting ready for October 5th - it's right around the corner.  You can do it!!!

Andy:  I've been wondering where you went.  Remember even though we don't always respond (me from feeling guilty) we are watching.  I've missed your post, but have been thinking about your motivation.  That being said, here's my day yesterday.  Started @ 6:30 (before everyone got up) with a bike ride.  Then to the pool at 3:30 - 6:00.  Did a lot of playing with my grandson in the pool, but did get in a few laps and running and squats, etc.
Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Welcome back Andy!

Just last night I was telling my daughter that I needed to kick myself on high gear and get back to exercising on a regular routine.
I was wondering if you were on vacation.

Glad you are back and posting and that you didn't give on us!!

Have a wonderful week and much success on the 5 day pouch test.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Welcome Back Andy,

I too have been off the exercise plan for the last week. I had a legitimate reason for a few days, but I could have done more starting Friday and did not. I did enjoy the extra time that gave me, but do feel like something is missing without it. I admit that I sometimes have to force myself to start, but then I am so glad afterwards that I did it. So here's to getting that positive energy back in gear again!

I plan on going to the gym tonight for the weight circuit and the treadmill.

Thanks,

Debbie

Glad to see you Andy!
Are you going to post your before and after pics in the thread from last week?  i would love to see yours.  If you ever doubt that your post is being read, just look at how many times it's been viewed.  Like Lisa said, even if we do not reply, we are defintely reading and it helps motivate all of us.  Of course we like to hear from you on other topics too, no pressure!
I know you miss your PA group but hopefully they are on OH as well so you can stay in touch with them too.  Don't be a stranger!

Welcome Back!!  Nice to see you and yes we all need to kick our butts in gear and your excercise post makes us accountable for our excercise!!! I keep putting it off because of my low blood pressure but I did notice the more active I am it seems a little better.  I got tied up on the Bay Bridge today and did not make the gym (the tractor trailor accident aftermath still) so I will be there and post about and let you know how I do tomorrow. Thanks again and we really missed you!  Good luck with your 5 day pouch test!!!

Hugs,
Terri

Hey Andy!
Good to see you! I've been a little MIA myself....happens sometimes. :-) Good luck on the 5DPT! Kelly and I did it and did pretty good on it. The first two days are hell but the rest weren't bad at all. I'm really glad that you are going to do the 5K in October it'll be great to meet everyone who's coming! I've been upping my jogging and getting a better feel of things. Knee is feeling better so that's a real plus! Twice a week with Gary, two nights walking with Kelly and two nights fast walk/jog at home and that's pretty much me right now. :-) Life is pretty good! Take care and keep up the thread!
