i never want to come come across in a "my doc is better than your doc" tone, but i read a lot of threads on here that make me very glad i chose my doctor.  everything was done so orderly.  i went to the seminar in april and had an appt less than two weeks later.  at the first appointment, i was given scripts for every test that i had to have done, including lists of recommended doctors/facilities.  i had 90% of my tests, including my sleep study done at st.. agnes.  i had my pre-surgical testing completed in two weeks.  i had a second appointment in may and a final appointment in june.  at all three appointments, i met with the financial counselor who walked me through my insurance coverage and what they required for approval.  i also went all three times with the nutritionist that provided a pre-surgical diet plan for me.  a week and a half after my last appointment, i was approved for surgery and they called me the next day to schedule it.  my surgery was two weeks later.  our support group meetings are great and the nutritionist attends each one.  i suppose i'm posting this more for people that are trying to decide which doctors to choose.  i just cannot stress how simple everything was for me and still is.

WOW!!!! I wi**** were rolling along for me like that. But at University of Maryland Dr K is the ONLY B Surgeon so he is BOOKED UP! I chose him because he has been a world respected trauma surgeon. That makes me feel a bit more comfy heading in the O.R with him. I just pray everything is worth the wait. ;o) And you can so do the MY DOCTOR IS BETTER THEN YOURS hehehe Nothing wrong with a little bragging. hehehe ~Jilly~

thanks for understanding what i was trying to say.  i've learned over the years that it's easy to be misunderstood on message boards.  LOL   i actually did look at hopkins first because... it's hopkins... the best damn hospital in the world.  however, they were not covered by my insurance plan, so i had to look elsewhere.  i'm just happy that i have "one stop shopping" with dvr's practice.  i know myself and my bad habits and it's a good chance i would not see the NUT as often as i should if i weren't seeing her everytime i went in for a visit - particularly if i'm not doing well.  the best part about weigh****chers meetings is that they were easy to skip if i thought i'd gained that week!!

Oh I know It is hard when you are sending emails or on a message board because you cant tell a TONE from typing. LOL But I totally knew what ya meant.

I have some bitter feelings as far as Hopkins goes because that hospital was responsible for the death of my six year old son and then they tried to cover it up. It was a mess and we had a HUGE lawsuit against them. Several months into the lawsuit they knew they had us when they ask our attorneys to have us allow them dig up our sons grave. They knew we would not do it. We were told if we did it would be an EASY WIN and if we didnt THEY WIN! Well my husband and I thought about it and WE DIDNT DO IT! No money in the world would be worth disturbing our sons resting place. I would not be able to sleep at night. So that was a long story made short. I loved a lot of his Doctors there like Dr Carson who became like family to us at one time in our sons life. So I just get chills whenever I hear the name Hopkins anymore.
Oh and I so hear you about skipping the WW meetings. I was HORRIBLE with that. ~Jilly~

i'm so sorry to hear about your son.  i cannot even imagine.  wish i could give you a hug.  my sister was 42 when she very suddenly passed away and my mom has never been the same.  it's just not something a mother should ever have to experience.

It is late and I am exhausted so I am sorry if I repeat. I didn't read everything.I went to a great place I believe it is Sleep disorders center of the Mid Atlantic  on Rt 50 between the Bay Bridge and Red,Hot,Blue closest to Red Hot & Blue.   I also had studies with sleep servics of Am  you sleep  at Anne Arundel Medical Center. There is some question on the accuracy of the results from SSA. I hope this helps. I have to get some sleep.

Hi Jilly,
I had my sleep study a few years back when I worked on the EShore, at Easton Memorial.  They were wonderful.  I don't know whether you would want to drive across the bridge, but they probably have less of a wait list.  Yes, though, you do need the Dr. to write an RX or a referral to get the sleep study.  I had a friend who had to go to Sinai because he was too heavy to get his study done at GBMC.
Also, I have heard that Frederick memorial (FMH) here when I live now will put you up in a hotel room to so their sleep studies.  I know of 4 people who had a good experience with FMH.
