Where to go for a sleep study?

Hello everyone. ;o) I am becoming more and more frazzled everyday with the prep work needed for surgery. My insurance does not require any 6 mos diets so I thought I would have a fast pre op appt and surgery date. No such luck. Dr Kligman is super BOOKED and I am left sitting around twiddling my fingers. Ughh And my Primary Doc wont see me until I get a surgery date.
I have had my Psych consult and that was easy but I am having a tough time with getting the Sleep study scheduled. Everywhere I call is either booked up or RUDE. I had a woman tell me today "Oh great another one for WLS" and put me on hold forever just to tell me they had nothing. Then I finally got someone pleasant at Univ. of Md but they need "Orders" from Dr Kligman. He hasn't even seen me yet other then the seminar and scheduling my Sept 15th appt. UGHHHH! So Kiligmans office said I need this done before my Sept 15th visit. I left a message today for them to help clear that up. My insurance will cover me to go ANYWHERE so if any of you have had a pleasant experience at a particular sleep study clinic or hospital PLEASE let me know. Thanks so much!!! ((((Hugs))))) ~Jilly~

Thanks April They were not on the list I had from the seminar so I will call them Monday. Can I ask why you needed 3 of them honey? Did you need all 3 before the surgery? Thanks ~Jilly~

Actually, none of these were for the surgery.  My first one was about 4 years ago when I couldn't stay awake if there was a lull in a conversation.  Then, I fell asleep driving 3 times on I-95.  It was time to talk to the doctor!    The next one was a few years later, after another 100 lb. weight gain and my sleep patterns were on the downslide.  This last one in July was just to reevaluate and confirm that my sleep apnea is really gone and to find out why I sleep so sporadically.

I did stay overnight for all of the tests.  Like I said, the facility is comfortable, clean and the staff are kind and considerate.

Also, it did not take long to get an appointment.

I wish you luck with this.  Even if you don't go to Franklin Square, if you have any questions or just want to talk, email me and I'll get right back to you.  If you want my private email, let me know.

On our way ... ... to a better us!

We're on the other side of town, but I did mine at GBMC and they were wonderful. I hated every minute of it, but that had nothing to do with the accomodations, or the staff. Both were great! Plus, I think it only took me about a week or so to get an appointment.
Hugs!

I went to GMBC too and literally got in the next day. I took me a long time to fall asleep and I never got comfortable but it did the job.

Good luck!
