OT / anyone ever gone tanning?
I have a sister in South Carolina and every time I go down there, winter or summer, she and all her friends glow gorgeously. So me....three summers ago while I was there, wanting to be a sun goddess as well, headed to the backyard with my Coppertone. I was dying, it's like 102 degrees at high noon. Anyway, some of my sister's friends come over and they're out back in the shade laughing at me. I exclaimed I was just paying my dues, they must have done it as well earlier in the season, and they laugh again.
One comes over with a margarita and pulls me into the shade , saying in that southern drawl I love, "Sweeethaarrt, we're never een the sun, it's too damn hawt, we spray this ohn !
Couldn't tell it was fake on any of them. Sun goddesses...taking it easy in the shade...

Go ahead and flame away - but I did five tanning sessions last summer before I went to the Outer Banks for a week's vacation. And it was the best decision I ever made. I'm pale and I burn easily, but having that base tan really helped me not be a red lobster the whole week of vacation. Otherwise, my normal tendency is to not put on much sunscreen and want to get a lot of sun at once... BAD IDEA. My skin can't handle that. So going every few days, for about 3-5 minutes at a time, I started to get a little tan (red the first two times, but then it eased up).
I don't tan during the year and looked at this tanning session as a preventive measure to burning up and really ruining my skin. I guess it depends on your skin type and the condition of your skin now. If you want to avoid the wrinkles that come with lots of sun exposure, and you're already working with some, then I'd guess it'd make the most sense not to do it. But if you only really get tan during one time a year (like I do at the beach), go for it.
Have an awesome time on that cruise!!!!

As a matter of fact I have a tan from the mountains of WV going on right now...
I used to do some tanning sessions but it was a amjor problem for me because I am claustrophobic.. That was a major trip but worth the anxiety when I would look at my golden skin.... lol

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
