Anyone else work nights?
Hi, I unofficially work a little at night. I usually login when I get home from the gym to check my emails and prepare some work for the next day.
I was really curious about this as well before I did this. I could not figure out how anyone could understand me sufficienty to make this decision. My eval was more than a year ago, so I do not remember the exact questions. But he started off with some general questions about my background and my struggle with weight. He wanted to know why I was making this choice. He also asked me a number of questions to make sure that I understood that the surgery was just a tool, that it will still require work and commitment on my part to make it work, that I have a realistic expectation. A good part of the interview was focused on this last part. When we were done, I asked him if he had formed an opinion and if I was allowed to know what it was. He immediately said that he thought that it was a good choice for me and supported my decision. It was much easier than I expected.
Of course, just as people are different, other Psychs may be different. This is just my experience.
Best Wishes!
Debbie

Yes the same happened with my eval like debbie explained. But there are other ones that give you a test of I don't know how many questions and stuff. The lady I had was amazing she had WLS too and knew exactly where I was coming from. It was like chatting with a friend.
I had a couple of friends that did fail theirs and was recommended to go back for a few more visits.
I am a SAHM and sometimes I get on at night when the kids go to bed.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

i had to take the tests. one, i think, was the NEO-PI, which many psychologist will give you. the other was a test that was aimed specifically to people about to undergo a surgical procedure. what i found interesting about the tests is that they compare your answers to the answers provided by different types of people and make a determination on several things, such as the liklihood that you will sue your doctor.
Two people who are WLS successes as well as therapists to do your psych eval are:
Amy Easley of Easley and Associates, on Harford Rd in Baltimore
and Ranessa McNally on Old Court RD. in Baltimore
I recommend both of them highly. I see you have already gotten good information to answer your questions, but if you want to, check this out for ides of what you may be asked:

I had to take tests before going in for my appointment but brought them with me. She barely had time to ask me questions because she was late getting to her other location but after a 10 minute discussion, and no looking at any of the mound of paperwork I filled out to bring with, declared me fit for surgery while also recommending a new anit-depressant for me. It was painless but very very quick.
