My surgeon is Dr Von Rueden who is now at St Agnes.  He does lap bad surgery.  And it's always alright to ask, that's what the board is for.  Everyone here is just wonderful and always willing to help!  Kim : )

Welcome to the Maryland Board!!!  By all means, feel free to ask away about anything on here.  We're happy to help.

I had rny, but my surgeon was also Dr. Von Rueden - at the time, he was practicing at GBMC.  I love the man.  Although he's hard to get to know, because he's actually shy, he is a gifted surgeon and a compassionate man.

I know Dr. Schweitzer at Hopkins Bayview is also highly thought of.

Good luck and please post often!!

welcome to the board.  there are many good doctors around baltimore.  we are blessed to have some many great medical facilities in this area.  my suggestion is to start with your insurance company.  who do they cover?  from there, my second suggestion is to stick with centers of excellence.  they have to report all their statistics and they are typically much better run offices because of it.  it's a process and you want not only a great surgeon, but a great office staff - nutritionist, nurse, financial assistance, etc.  i absolutely love my doctor and i agree with tia, i wasn't sure what i thought at first.  however, his staff is top notch and his support group meetings are fantastic.  good luck!!

Welcome!  I had RNY, but finding a surgeon is the same.  Stick with a Center of Excellence and then go to all of their Information Sessions.  Pick out which one you feel you click with the best and which program you feel meets your needs best.

My surgeon is Dr. Moein at GBMC.  I like him.  Originally I had Dr. Von Rueden, but he moved to St. Agnes and I wanted to stay at GBMC.  I personally did not like him at all, but I know other people love him.  So, you just need to go out there and meet people and see who you like.

Good luck!

Hi Prince!

Welcome to the Maryland Board!!!! There's a lot of support to be had here. I, myself had RNY though. I had mine done at the University of Maryland in Baltimore by Dr. Mark Kligman. I know a LOT of people here that went to St. Agnes and had the lap band....I'm sure they will know much more than I about their programs and stuff.

And yes....we are one big HAPPY family here We'll take care of ya!
