I am currently in the process of doing my Pre-op testing and I am going crazy b/c none of the radiology clinics in my area can accomodate my weight of 385lbs.  I know it isn't their faults, but this is quite frustrating.  I have even tried calling the hospitals and I have also tried seeking help from the obesity clinics.  I am located in Southern Maryland-Waldorf.  Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if there is one near you but check out Advanced Radioligy. They took care of all my pre-op stuff and I was 311 at the time of surgery. The one I went to is located in Glen Burnie near the hospital. Also, check with your surgeon. They should have a list of radioligy places that can accomodate you. Good luck and keep us posted!

I ran into this problem as well. I did some of my radiology at American Radiology. But I had to do my Upper GI at the hospital Radiology. I was at GBMC. I suggest contacting your hospital to see if they can accommodate you. I suspect they will. I was over 400lbs. when my work was done. Also, when I needed an MRI for some other things, I had trouble finding that as well. For that I went to Medical Imaging of Baltimore which is on the campus of GBMC, but not directly affiliated with the hospital.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Your hospital doing your surgery is the best bet.As far as the MRI and CAT scans go I was 430 lbs and I could not get one. It was imposiible. They tried, it was humiliating they tried pushing and pulling it couldn't happen. I still get excited when I fit with ease and thank goodness because they were able to find an aortic aneurysm in my ascending aorta that they couldn't before because I didn't fit.  Now I can do what needs to be done. They should be ale to do what you need done for surgery and after surgery  and weight loss you can take care of the rest.
Good luck. Life is an amazing gift.

Thank You all for the replies.  I tried three places that said that they could not accomodate me-Hospital (Where I had my daughter in '06 and did my xrays shortly there after), American Radiology (who did my ultrasounds) and Radiology Imaging Associate (who also did some of my ultrasounds).  I think that I will just fabricate a little on my weight so that I can get an appointment and then see where it goes from there.  I am finally over the fear of the surgery and now this stands in my way.  Thank you all and wish me luck.  Will keep you updated.

you may want to also ask your surgeon's office.  i'm sure many patients have had the same problem and they know what to do.
