Ok for anyone that does not know what TMJ issues are here it is but if you have this you know what it is.  It can be very painful.

TMJ disorder: What are the symptoms?

TMJ disorder: What are the symptoms? The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is in front of the ear where the upper jaw meets the lower. When the joint doesn't work properly, or becomes inflamed, it leads to headaches, locked jaws and other issues.

So I think my weight loss surgery is really effecting my TMJ.  Anyone else?  My jaw is not getting stuck anymore and no lock jaw, THANK GOD! But my jaw is out ALL the time.  Good for me it slips right back in.  It is not as painful as before but the slipping is pretty big when it happens.  I don't have the click anymore when I eat but I woke up again this morning with it out and it is just sliding all over the place.  I have had TMJ issues since I was like 6 years old but this issue has only been in the past 4 months.  I can tell you in the past 8 weeks it is out a couple times a day.  Its not like I am eating bagels and pizza crust to make this happen. So I think my face and jaw miss my fat and my jaw keeps coming out of line.
Thoughts for anyone that has this?
I guess it is time to call the dentist.

Kristen,

I am so sorry to hear about your TMJ- my daugher just had a bad incident with it swelling and all she went to the dentist and he had to give her steriods and told her to see an orthodonist.  When she was young she had two sets of braces already.   She is doing ok now and I am not sure about what happened with her follow ups, come to think of it she is getting a call from me today now!!   If I find out anything that helps her I will let you know.  I hope it gets better for you.  Hang in there!!

I have it too, and even with my nightguard in, my clenching occurs and when I wake up the jaw is way to the left, which is the side I sleep on.  I just yank it back in too but I'm wonderign whether I need a new nightguard. Keep me posted on what your dentist says.  Hugs

I have not wore my nightguard in years, I hate it.  I would throw that thing across the room in the middle of the night.  It just gag me too much.  Maybe I should look into that again BUT my jaw is out more during the day.  Maybe I do talk to much.
