Approved Medications?

Is there a comprehensive listing of approved medications for RNY patients?

Im_Eric gave me a little wallet sized cheat sheet, but it only has a small listing of acceptable/non-acceptable medications on it....perhaps 30 total.

I'm looking for something a little more lengthy, that lists more than just a small handful of medications to stay away from, or medications that is ok to take.

I am starting a cold and wanted to take some Nyquil.  Nyquil does have acetomenophen, which is on the "good" list, but does that mean that I can take Nyquil (that also has other medications in it's formula)?

This nagging cough keeps me awake at night.  It'd be nice to take some meds to allow me to sleep.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to point out that NSAIDs are the bad ones (ibuprofin and asprin are the most common, AKA Advil/Motrin/Bayer).  But acetomenophen (AKA Tylenol) is okay.  So I'd think as long as Nyquil doesn't have ibuprofin or asprin you'd be okay.

I would call your surgeon to make sure what there list is, everyone is different.  There might be a reason you have that cough and maybe they can help.  I am not sure if you take blood pressure meds but some of them can tend to give you a "night cough".
I only play a doctor on TV. Hope that helps.
