Thoughts on New Orleans...
So I had a flight credit and decided to experience a new city. So I picked a weekend the kids were with their dad, took 2 days off work, and headed down to New Orleans.
Observations -
1. Not really a good place for a single woman to be walking after dark, but I did walk the French Quarter and waterfront all day long and loved it.
2. Everything they cook has rice in it or is fried. Eating was difficult, but I managed.
3. Thank God I walked everywhere to make up for some of the food compromises I had to make.
4. Beads - well, what can I say - I didn't "earn" any of them per se, but I did come home with some lovely 'beaded necklaces'.
5. Alcohol and Burbon Street - I only lasted about 3 blocks on Burbon St. Decatur with the shops and not quite so many topless-drunk people was more to my liking.
6. Gotta do a swamp tour - I was out on a boat in a swamp for about 2 hours and the wildlife was incredible.
Overall - I'd do NO LA again....:)
