Andy - We love you and we are keeping you in Maryland! I have a question that perhaps you could help us with many of us struggle with getting all our fluid in especially us newbies not to mention we have all struggled with proteins (drinks, powders etc). Is there anything tricks, tips or products that you have used that may have worked well for you. I figure with getting the amount of excercise you do and body building etc, you must be doing something right about that. Maybe if you are able to a post from you on protein and fluids- I know Aaron, and myself and a few others that are less than 12 weeks out are struggling. Thanks for you help.
Terri
Because of how much exercising and working out I do, my protein intake is probably somewhere around 150 grams a day. I manage this fairly easily by taking a vial of a protein shot with breakfast, which has 25 grams in it and, if I need it, I'll throw a protein shake in somewhere during the day, usually with lunch or before I go to bed. It has 48 grams. The rest I am lucky to get out of food. As for liquids, unfortunately, there really isn't much of a secret formula. The only advice I could give you is try different viriaties, such as crystal light, sugar free kool-aid and other powdered mixes, as well as flavored water. Just be careful when reading the labels, don't trade a positive for a negative. In other words, some of these drinks can be high in caloric intake as well as sugars, etc... If I'm just sitting around the house, I usually have a glass of some kind of flavored drink - usually crystal lite - nearby. It's around a 20 ounce cup. If I do this three times a day, I'm good. You just have to find a way to work it in. Sorry I couldn't give you a secret formula and I know plain water can get boring. But, remember, it is necessary. Good luck and take care.
