Ahhh OK that makes sense! Pasadena is a nice area and I had been looking at houses there last year but decided to wait awhile. It is a buyer's market but the whole thought of owning right now scares me so putting it off for awhile. Also thinking of the Crofton and surrounding areas......also like Howard County but that's $$ out there. We'll see. I've got time.

Yeah, the Safeway and Walmart are nice. Deale, Churchton and Shady Side fought it and won so the closest they could put them were in Dunkirk. It's still a bit of a hike but I like it better than Edgewater. Have fun at work! LOL I'm here early, which I like, it gives me time to respond to emails and such before starting my work day.

Oh Crofton is nice ;o) We looked there too and in Davidsonville. My son is buried in Davidsonville so we wanted to be close to that area but go**** was $$$$$. We looked at a 2 bedroom home for over 500,000. Now that is HIGH! The house were in now is almost that and has 3 levels, 4 bedrooms a 2 car garage and so much more that the 2 bedroom rancher didnt have. Its crazy to me how high everything is from homes to gas. I hope the economy turns around for the better.
So how was that for OFF TOPIC! hahaha ~Jilly~

Hey Heather,
It is so exciting that, even being two years out, you were able to experience such a fantastic WOW moment.  You are right about them coming so rarely once you get that far out.  We used to live off these moments while losing so much weight so quickly and then it kind of comes to a crashing halt.  I know exactly what you went through yesterday, as I experienced the same exact thing at the same park last summer.  It's amazing, isn't it?  I mean, this is one of those things that "normal" size people just take for granted.  I am so glad that you had a great time and there are going to be many more, I'm sure.

As for your niece, it is a very sad situation.  An 11 year old girl should be experiencing all life has to offer such a young child.  And there is a fine line that an aunt has to decide whether to cross or not.  I think you're handling it well and I know that it's hard.  But, as someone that really cares, I do ask you to stay on top of her as much as you can.  You are right, you don't want her to have to look into wls as a way out as she gets older.  It needs to be nipped in the butt NOW!!!  It sounds like you have a close relationship with her, so I'm sure she's hearing what you are saying.  Just keep in mind that 11 year olds are getting close to those teenage years where acceptance is very important.  And, lets face it, obese children tend to be the ones left on the outside looking in.  She needs you.

Once again Heather, CONGRATULATIONS on such a fantastic WOW moment and enjoy your weekend.  It's supposeed to be near 100 all three days, so stay hydrated and stay cool.  Enjoy it!

Andy,
Thank you so much! It was WONDERFUL and I loved every second of it!!!! Hope you had a good weekend with your son and everything. Mine was great and actually enjoying being home and inside today! LOL I am wiped out!!! Everything with my niece is very sad. My heart hurts and there isn't much more I can do about it. With her being in Florida I can only do what I can but her grandparents don't see it as a problem so they don't even put the healthy food choices in front of her or even encourage exercise. Yes, I spoke to her about it and yes I will continue to do so and do what I can but 50 weeks of the year she is with them and we only see her for 2. It's a very sad situation. I pray every day that something snaps and the necessary changes are made. All I can do is make the effort from over here and pray that she does something on her own.

Wow Heather that's exactly what kind of WOW moment I'm looking forward too. I recently went to Busch Gardens and didn't think I could go on any of the rides so I didn't want to even try and get up there only to be embarrased and have to get out of line in front of people. So I only rode the log ride with my daughters. It was so much fun and I really miss being able to ride all the rides. I hope next year this same time I will be able to ride any and all just like you. As far as your niece I think you are handling as well as you can since you can't see her as much. Maybe things you've asid to her will inspire her to change her habits. Best wishes and have fun today at the beach.

Thank you so much! Last time I was at an amusement park I was the bag holder and jus****ched everyone else having fun. This time I didn't even take my purse in the park with me! I know exactly how you feel and how embarrasing it would be to have to get out of line. I don't think I could have handled that so I didn't even try before...I'm glad you at least did one ride with your daughters. :-) This time actually the first ride I kinda had a bit of a panic attack thinking I wouldn't fit then got over it and I'm so glad I did. The mind truely is the last part to catch up in WLS! I can't wait for you to share all your WOW moments!!! You have so much to look forward to!!!!

Heather CONGRATS!!!!  I had the same experience at Busch Gardens this year.  What a great WOW moment.

As for your niece, she has the same issue as your's.  My sister is kind of lazy about the issue though.  If my niece wants to eat an entire box of mac n' cheese while sitting in front of the computer my sister is fine with it.  It makes me very sad.

My sister complains about Emily's weight but does nothing to help Emily by changing her diet or even just going for a walk at night.

Thanks Kim!!! It really was great!!! I know you had those experiences too and it's so cool!!! LOL

Yeah, I'm right there with you on the niece thing. It is very sad and breaks the heart but what can we really do? We support them, love them and TRY to show them what changes they can make but without the parent's doing something it is so frustrating and makes you want to scream. Breaks the heart.
