that is so great. The last time i was at a park, i couldn't go on many of the rides because of my size. and forget about going on the water rides. those are my favorite. i hope one day to be able to do that again. it's so much fun!

Heather - Congratulations and thank you so much for your post. Everything you had to say is so important and special. I too used to love rides and have been thinking how much I would like to try it again. I am not 100% where you are yet, but it is on my list. You have inspired me!

I am so glad you got to have this special experience. I hope that your niece will benefit from your example. It is so hard to be a kid with weight issues.

I think of all of the things I read about on the message boards, my favorites are the WOW moments. I find these things both inspirational as well as an aid to adjusting my mind-set. As we progress along this path of weight loss, our brains do not always maintain pace with the scale.

Again, Congratulations and thank you for sharing!

Debbie,
Thank you so much! It was great and I really enjoyed sharing that WOW here on OH. You will be there 100% and I can't wait to hear all about your WOW!!!!

It is hard sometimes and on those days that are harder and we need that 'mind adjustment', you are right, those WOW moments are just what we need to keep going on the path we are on. You are doing so great! You have so much to be proud of and your own WOW moments you have already had and the ones yet to come! It is awesome, isn't it?

It's funny you said this :  I said the same thing at support group at GBMC the other night.

It sounds like you had a great time :  I have not tried the rides yet but I see that coming soon.
I still have a long way to go weight wise but I feel so much btter then this time last year.

Have a great day with your niece

Thanks Darla!!!
Yes, I did have a great time and you will be there soon too! The rides were a huge deal for me...it really did show me just how far I really have come. Like Debbie said, the mind is the part that needs the adjustment over time....I got mine this nice long weekend! It really helped!

I did have a nice time with my niece on Friday but it was hard with her weight. It breaks my heart and I am having a hard time with it because I only see her two weeks out of the whole year, once at summer and once at winter. Her grandparents who are raising her, don't see an issue with her weight and make light of it so she doesn't take it seriously either. How can she when they act the way they do? I'm just scared of getting that phone call that she is in the hospital with diabetes. I just pray that doesn't happen.

Heather:
I'm so happy for you.  I can't wait until I can go on the rides with my grandson.  He looks at me with those big brown eyes and asks why I can't go and I have to tell him "grandma can't fit."  I wanna cry.  He keeps asking me to take him to six flags and I keep telling him, hopefully soon.
