I have not been here in awhile...I switched surgeons to dr. andrew averbach and I have my first consult with him on tuesday, july 22nd, 3 days before my birthday....wish me luck...I am a little anxious...don't want my mind to go blank when I get in there....have a ton of questions to ask...would it be too crude to go in with a list of questions written down?

Write 'em all down and write down the answers or take someone with you.  Nerves make you forget important stuff.   A good doctor will not be offended by a patient who wants to fully understand what's going on.

I would think he'd be more curious if you didn't have any questions.

Good luck,
Ted

DOUBLE Hijack!!!

((((( Ted ))))   how wonderful to see you.   The new pic looks great I almost didn't recognize you.

Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Good luck at your appointment!  What a great birthday present to yourself.

Of course it wouldn't be crude of you to have a sheet of paper with questions on it.  As a matter of fact, your doctor will probably really appreciate you doing that so that he know how serious you are about this surgery, and to witness for himself how you are properly collecting your research.

And, goodness sakes,  if there is any issue with insurance denials, any information that you have to show a paper trail will be very helpful to you.

Welcome back, and best wishes for success with Dr. Averbach! I agree with the others, it is absolutely a good thing to have all of your questions ready. I believe the doctor will appreciate you being prepared, and welcome the opportunity to answer them.
Hugs!

thanks..I will do the questions this weekend...so far the answer I got is this is a preapproved request so the doctor has to submit his stuff before they will tell if it is approved, I have carefirst BCBS of maryland...and from what I can tell they do cover my procedure, so I have my fingers crossed!

Yes, absolutely take a written list. I always do. I absolutely hate it when I remember something I meant to ask after I have left the MD's office. It is too easy to forget additional things as you get into your conversation with the MD, or at least it is for me. Debbie

Ohhhh absolutley ask questions. I would take all the notes you can and he should be more then happy to answer all of your questions. This is your body and your life so you have to interview him. Its not at all crude. Good luck at the appt Monday. ~Jilly~
