Welcome to the MD board Christy.  I too have Aetna and they did not require a 10% weight loss prior to surgery.

Hi Christy, welcome to the MD board. This is a great place for support, inspiration and lots of laughs. I have Aetna as well. They dragged their feet on my approval, but even in that case it took a month after submission, and was approved on the first attempt. I've not heard anything about them requiring 10%. I lost about 15 pounds, which wasn't 10%.

Hi Christy! welcome to the board! I have my first visit with dr. averbach on tuesday! did you like Dr. A?

Yes I did.  My appt was very quick, since I've read so much already I didn't have a whole lot of questions or anything like that.  I've heard nothing but glowing things about him and his staff.  I have a friend that he did her surgery two years ago and she just loved him.  Like any surgeon they not overly friendly they are all business.

Let me know how your appt with him goes.  I go back the following tuesday for my dietcian appt with Ms. Swanko and my psych eval, then I should be ready to go to insurance.

Hi Christy Welcome to this board. Im a recent newbie myself. I too am in the beginning stages of RNY! I dont need the 6 mos due to my insurance so I am just waiting on my first visit with my surgeon which is in Sept. Im so bummed about that but I have waited this long whats 6 more weeks huh? LOL

Hey Jilly - You just live right around the corner from me I'm in SevPK.  That is a long time to wait for your first visit to the surgeon, guess he's a busy man.  I got my appt within 2 weeks.  But I still have to complete all the other stuff.
