Hello, I'm new to this web site and trying to figure out how all this works.  I'm pursuing gastric bypass.  My Dr. is Averbach and I met with him for the first time yesterday.  I've done my 6 month diet and didn't loose anything, which worries me health insurance wise.  All I have to do now is complete my phsych eval and my dietician appt. and my papers are ready to go to insurance.

Looking forward to talking to some of you and learning from your experiences.

Thanks,

Christy

Welcome, Christy! it is so hard to tell how the insurance company will react to your concern about the weight loss attempt. Your MD's office knows how to prepare the request to the insurance company. Just hang in there and keep doing what you are doing to get all of your pre-requisites done.

Good to have you with us!

Debbie

Good luck on your surgery I wish you the best.  I was reading your posts and I see you have Aetna just like me.  Where did find that Aetna requires 10% weightloss before approval?  I didn't see that anywhere, just that I had to do a 6 months supv diet.
Got my dietician appt scheduled for 7/29 now I just have to work on my psych eval.

Hope all goes well with you tomorrow!

Thanks!!!  As for the 10%, I thought they did too, but the ladies in my doctor's office didn't think they did.  I don't know if every policy is different.  I didn't have to lose 10%.  I know that information doesn't help, but the person you might want to ask is the Insurance person at your Surgeon's Office.  They will definitely know.

Well goodd luck on your dietician appt.  When are you making your appt for the Psych Eval!

Hey Christie,
Welcome aboard!!!  This is a great place to start your journey, as you'll find a lot of friendly and informative individuals on the Maryland board.  I just moved to Maryland this week and have been active on this board for about a week.  I moved here from Pennsylvania, where I was very active with the PA board, as well as with support groups in the Philadelphia area.  If you have any questions, please ask.  We won't bite.  Unless you're into that sort of stuff.

Welcome to Maryland!  It's a great place you like it, lived here all my life.  You have done a wonderful job on your weight loss, congrads to you.  I'm hoping for a whole new life too, like you I'm tired of not being able to do things with my kids.  I feel young at heart, and fat at body and that holds me back terrible.  My big kids are getting to age where we should be doing really cool stuff, jet skiing, water skiing, skiing and there sits mom jus****ching.  I wanna join in and I hope this is my start at a chance.

Keep in touch, Christy

Congrads on having the surgery.  How are you feeling after having your surgery?  I wish you the best.  I've been told the first two months are pure hell, I don't know that for a fact that's just what I'm told.  But totally worth it is what everyone says.

I'm on vacation after today but please keep in touch, I'd love to learn from you as you go through your first days.
