I was speaking with someone at lunch today and I think it's a lot of self talk.  Pretend that you have already had that fill.  All the rules that have been given to you, like we can't eat sugar or we'll dum***** soda.  Try to believe them.  I know I'm different than you because I had RYN and I can't put myself in your place, but it is about mind over matter.  You have made this commitment to yourself to loose the weight by WLS or any other means, now it's time to put your game face on!

You know Lisa, you make a good point. I tell a lot of people that I really had to give myself a mental beatdown in preparation to change all my habits at once. it still goes on after surgery too. I finally just threw everything out of my house and just got by on what I was ALLOWED to have. Of course it's easier when you live alone.

Hey Heather,
One of the things I have always told people that had wls of any kind when I ran support groups in Pennsylvania was that they operated on your stomach, not your brain.  It would've been nice if they could've done both so we wouldn't be faced with falling back into old habits.  The one thing I can give you is a swift kick in the butt and tell you to remember why you went through this process in the first place.  Stay focused and stay strong.  You have a ton of support right at your finger tips.  It's good that you got this out in the open this early out so you don't stray too far.  You fell off the wagon, so to speak.  Pick yourself up, wipe yourself off and get back on.  You have a lot to look forward to.  You have to believe in yourself, as I know we all believe in you.  Good luck and let us know how you're making out.

I'm coming to the party late, I worked 12 hours today... but, you got a lot of great advice. You are probably eating a LOT less than you think you are, because you are hopefully getting full a little quicker than before. I also think that Lisa's advise is key. If you think you can't eat something you might be less likely to eat it. I had RNY 7  months ago. I haven't eaten more than 2 bites of a sweet since then. I'm not convinced that I won't dump. But, I'm more afraid to find out that I don't dump. If I don't dump, then I will have no motivation to stay away from sweets. I think I'm the only person I know who hasn't dumped, lol.

You walked a lot tonight, and are already planning it for tomorrow. You're on the right track, and doing great. I know it's easier said than done, but keep your spirits up, and your eye on the prize, and I really think it will get easier. OH, and keep experimenting with healthier items. The more things I find that I can eat that are healthy, and that I like, just keep me from eating things that aren't as healthy.

I never thought in my life I would say this, as I have always wanted to be a mom.. but I think I'm lucky that I don't have kids around who would have sweets and junk food in the house.
Hugs!
Kathy
