WE NEED TO MEET!!!
Okay, so now that I'm officially a Marylander and you wonderful people have made me feel so welcome here, I need to find a way to meet you guys. As I've said a few times already, I am not real familar with the surrounding area (I live in Elkton). That being said, what monthly meetings, support groups, etc... do you all have? Is there anything remotely close to the Cecil County area? Obviously I'd be willing to travel a little, but my question is - Are any of your meetings anywhere near my area? And, if not, how far a travel am I looking at? You see, it is very important to me to be able to get to know you on a personal level. I left a VERY, VERY close-knit wls family in Pennsylvania. It was a very large group and we used to meet for dinner before our monthly support group meeting, used to have a monthly Saturday meeting at one ladies' house, went to birthday parties, picnics, cookouts, etc... Hell, just two weeks ago, I organized a group of about 20 of us that did a 5K together on July 4th and we had t-shirts made up with our team name, Mission Possible, printed on the back of the bright lime green shirts. I need to get to know my NEW family. Help me out guys. Thanks.

Andy -
Well, as you know, we had our picnic planning meeting this weekend. We'd settled on a date of September 27, but, and I haven't told the others yet, there is NOTHING available at any Central Maryland parks on that date, so we're probably going to have to move it to early October. Waiting for a call back from the Parks lady. I'll keep you posted on that.
In addition, there are several area support groups - none close to you, though. We also try to have get togethers every 4-6 weeks, but vacations make it difficult this time of year.
Having said all that - we could just plan a get-together at a restaurant or some place close to you. You pick a day, we make a post - and voila! you get to meet us in all our glory.
Let me know what you think!!! Elkton's right off of 95, and there's a great restaurant, The Bayou in Havre de Grace.
Think about it!

I'm pretty far from you, I'd imagine....seeing as I'm in Southern Maryland, at the southern-most point of Maryland on the western shore.
Having said that, I'd still like to meet you all, too. I'm not adverse to a road trip. And you all are certainly welcome to come down this way to meet. I'm not far from Solomon's, where we have some grea****erfront dining....there's a lot of historical stuff to do here in Maryland's FIRST Capitol, etc. If you're in to sailing, my husband would be glad to take you out for a sunset cruise on the Patuxent River/Chesapeake Bay. We can pack a healthful picnic basket and head out on the water and watch a magnificent sunset. Just let me know if anyone is interested. Max people would be about 10-12, though.

I too am in So. MD but not as far as Tracy is. :-) I'm closer to Annapolis. I belong to the Crofton Support Group which meets once or twice a month and like Tia said things just get posted on here and get done. :-) A few of us will be walking another park soon, we're just setting up a date to do that. Most people are pretty much up for anything. Summer is a little harder though with vacations and such.
I'm in Hagerstown (on the other side of the state from you due west) and I go to the Carroll County support group....although I have heard of one just recently that is in Hagerstown about a mile from my house! Although I'm more inclined to go to Carroll county where I'm familiar. Carroll county isn't too far from Baltimore but it's a jaunt down 95 and then across 70 for you. However, I'm willing to go where everyone gathers

Hey Andy! I have a great friend from another board who lives in Elkton and I usually meet up with her in Belair. It's about halfway between she and I (in Rosedale/White Marsh). Tia's not too far from me and she and I could carpool on the way up. We're always up for a get together (I usually have to be able to include my 3 year old though).
