Well went to GWU for my ultrasound on my liver and abdomen, and hopefully this is the last step before being ok'd. The only thing I found strange was the woman giving me the ultrasound did about 12 major shots of the livers size and the gall bladder then left the room, came back with another lady and she took some shots.  I asked her if anything was wrong and she said no it's just that Dr. Brody wants some specialty shots. If that was so why didn't he write it on the scrip slip.

Dusty -

Dontcha just hate when they do that?  Now you'll worry, and it'll probably be for nothing.  Maybe the tech was new, you likely have a fatty liver like most wls patients, maybe they saw an alien - who knows??  But TRY not to worry about it, and just look at it as, like you said, one more step.

I'll be off next week, but please make sure you post any updates.  I'll have lots of reading to do when I get back!!!

Good luck & I'm crossing my fingers for you!!!

Hugs,

Tia

Try not to worry too much. I remember this test taking a long time for me too. I think it was challenging for the technician because of my size. When I got the results, my MD said that my liver was slightly enlarged, but that was common for people who are overweight. It did not stop the process,. it only helped the surgeon be that much more aware so that he could allow for it during surgery. if you find yourself worrying about it anyway, just call your MD to ask about the results after a few days (give them time to get the results). Knowledge is power! Best Wishes, Debbie

Dusty,

To reiterate what Tia said, I wouldn't worry about it too much. When my surgeon did my EGD, he said he wanted to take a biopsy and it really wasn't anything to be worried about but I worried and everything came back negative. but it took two weeks to find that out! LOL I was worried then I was just tired of worrying so I just let it go. If there really was something wrong then they would contact you quickly.

Dusty,
Like Aaron said, if there were something to worry about, they would've let you in on it.  I know the whole preop testing part of this journey is quite extensive, but there are obvious reasons behind it.  As the old adage goes, "better safe than sorry".  I believe it was Tia that said maybe they saw a liver that was a little fatty.  This is quite common, from what I understand, for wls patients.  Keep your head up and stay positive, you are almost there.
