Big weekend for me - I become an official member of the Maryland community!!! Yahoooooo!!!  I will be totally into my new place in Elkton on Sunday.  It's a crazy weekend all around, though.  As I've mentioned one other time here, I shoot competitive pool and have a big tournament in Philadelphia starting tonight.  If I'm still in it on Sunday, it's going to make for a late moving time.  Oh well, gotta do what I gotta do.  Anyway, I'm going to take it light today, go for a 5 mile jog and maybe some wind sprints.  It's part of my interval training.  I really need to use as much of today as possible packing.  I'm just about done.  Thank God. Do yourselves a big favor today.  DO NOT look at today as Friday and the weekend and a chance to skip your workout.  It is very easy to just say f*** it, it's Friday.  That would mean you have three straight days off, unless you committ yourself to working out over the weekend.  And, I've seen it too many times, it makes it that much harder to get back into it on Monday.  Stay on course, stay strong and stay focused.  Have a GREAT weekend my new neighbors.

Well I didn't get to work out yesterday because of the shots I got in my knee but I'll be hitting the treadmill today.  I think I'm going to do two reps of 30 minutes on the treadmill with some stretching exercises (as much as I can without hurting myself).  right now all I can do for cardio is the treadmill because I don't fit too well on the bike and the elliptical hurts too much on the joints so I just stick with the good ole treadmill.  it gets me sweaty just as much LOL  I hope to work out during the weekend since my gym is a private gym in my development and not too many people use it.

Aaron, the eliptical machine is no joke. Pre-op I could only stay on for about  3 minutes and that was it! The end of the workout session. I haven't tried it Post-op yet (waiting until after my visit w/ Dr. Moein on Thursday to get the "all clear"), but I am DETERMINED that darned thing!!! Good luck with your workout today and the rest of the weekend. It's great that you have a community gym that's relatively private to use on the weekends. The company gym is closed on the weekends so I'm in search of a 2nd gym. One that isn't too intimidating - wish me luck.  Peace and Blessings, -Antoinette

Hi Antoinette!!! I'm assuming that when anyone uses the elliptical that they have to have major control of their joints because it takes a lot of control to keep a fair paice without ellipticalling yourself out the window or into oblivion LOL  I don't have that kind of control over my knees just yet.  I still have to keep in mind that I'm STILL 380 pounds and that is a LOT to control.  I'm not Mr. Invincible yet LOL I hope you have a wonderful weekend hon :) HUGS! Good Morning, Yesterday I went to the gym and worked out on the treadmill for 60 minutes. I set  it to the fat burn program and boy am I feeling it this morning. I must admit that I considered taking the day off from the gym - because you know, it Friday... but I packed my bag and brought it to work with me. Then I come to the board and I read your words and they have convicted me. I am committed! So...afterwork I plan to go to the gym and work on the treadmill for 60 minutes (fat burn program again).  Thanks "Coach" Andy!!!

Hi Andy, I want to wish you well with your move.  I just moved on June 21st and I am still unpacking. Moving is no joke!   That is awesome that you shoot competive pool.  I always wanted to learn to be good so I could do the same.   Good luck this weekend. As for exercising. I have not been going to a gym. But I have been doing a lot of work around the house walking around the lake with the kids and since I joined sparkpeople.com it gives me great ideas on how to workout at home.   Here's one: Work out by sitting on the couch? Sit Squats With a little extra thought and attention, you can turn almost anything--a piece of furniture, a bag of groceries, and even your baby--into a piece of workout equipment. For this one, look no further than the family couch. You can even try this while watching TV! Starting Position Stand facing away from your couch (like you're about to sit). Keep your feet about hip-width apart, and stand up tall with abs pulled in. Action Inhale and squat down and back, as if you're about to sit onto the couch, until your thighs barely touch the seat of the chair. Exhale and stand back up to repeat one rep. Aim for 8-15 reps and 1-3 sets. Special Instructions Keep your abs in tight to help you maintain your balance, and try to keep your torso as upright as possible (avoid leaning forward as your squat). Time Involved: 2-5 minutes  My thighs are killing me!   LOL Have a wonderful day.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Hey Cira, Thank your so much for this information, it should come in very handy to those of us that sometime don't have the desire (shame on us) to get off our ass and out the door.  I admire your committment to staying in shape, any which way you can.  Keep up the good work.

The great thing about it is that sparkpeople.com is free I can enter the foods I eat daily and there are groups I can join to help ou get motivated.  I am a SAHM and I don't have anyone to leave my kids with if I want to go to a gym.   But with this site I get a lot of ideas, directions healthy recipes and it helps me stay accountable. Thanks I am commited to stay in shape even if I can not make it out there like most.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
