Ultram????  My orthopaedic prescribed some for me today and was wondering if anyone else out there has taken it since WLS.  I know medications effect everyone differently (i take ambien and have had no problems).  Have a great day all...

Hey girl, Ultram is an extended release medication which is not really supposed to help RNYers because of the malabsorption we have.  I was told not to take any extended realease medication because it will not help.   Try to see if the Ortho can give you something different that is not ER and remember no NSAIDS... Take care and have a great day.

So you have the one that is not the extended release?  We also have to becareful about not getting hooked on those since they are narcotics and we can get transfer addicted.   Jmho... Best of luck!

my PCP prescribed Ultram for me for the pain in my knees.  I read up on it and I didn't like the effects it has...being a part of the narcotic family and all.  I talked to my orthopedist and he said that Ultram, although would take care of some of the pain, it wouldn't really address the problem which is what lead me to getting the shots in my knee for the arthritis.  I never got that prescription filled and I'm kinda glad I didn't.

I haven't taken any pain meds actually since i came home from my wls surgery....this doesn't feel like a muscle pain either...feels like bone pain, if there is such a thing.  finished my physical therapy for my neck weeks ago and the pain is starting where the neck meets the shoulders and radiating down between my shoulder blades....wondering if i really need a chiro now.  but have to be careful with that because of my c-spine fusion..i am just a medical mess...lol

I had the same sort of pains when the wieght came off. My back, between my shoulders and in the joint groin area and hips. Your whole body is shaping differently and quickly. The hips dont hurt, but the gorin still does. Its the joint bones rubbing together differently then before. At least that is what my doctor said. He said it will pass. Even my tail bone is sore. from the fat being gone around the bone. got a pillow with the hole in the back. works great.
