UPDATE ON DAD

Ok: as some of you know from my post this morning I took the day off to take Dad to the cardiologist and the eye Dr.  He had as episode last week and we are concerned it may have been a mini stroke:  The cardiologist referred him to a neurologist and we are on the urgent cancelled appointment list which means he should have the mri by Friday at the latest.  That Is the only way to check for a stroke. The eye Dr did discover another bleed ( he has macular degeneration) and did say that it is possible thats what caused the  blurry/ double vision this past week : so again we wait for the MRI:  There are two ways to stop the bleed- one involves a slight risk of stroke or hear attack - Its the better of the two medications but he wants the clearence from the neurologist before deciding which treatment is best.  I'll update when we know more but again its "Hurry up and wait" for the MRI   

hope things turn around for him soon! it must be very frustrating to have to wait for the mri. i guess you can't go to an er for it?

Thanks :  and thats what we all tried to get him to do last week:  go to the ER but hes stubborn and bull headed :  he insisted on waiting for the appointment with the cardiologist :  only to be referred to a neurologist. 

Darla: We're out here praying for you and Dad.  I've been taking care of my mother since her illness about 16 years ago, and I know how it is when your siblings don't or won't help.  In the end, I wouldn't do anything different.  My mother and I have always had a special relationship!!!

Gosh Darla, sorry to hear about your father.  I hope that he is able to get in for the MRI ASAP.  Please keep us update and I will definitely keep him in my prayers. Teri

Thanks for the support everyone :  Dad is resting now -  and I'm holding the keys to his car so no driving until he gets the MRI:  I also called my sister and told her to make NO PLANS that can not be broken at the last minute for the next couple of days.  I took today off but taking two more days off just in case is out of the question

Darla, Keeping your dad and family in my thoughts and prayers. That whole 'hurry up and wait' routine is maddening!!! I am so sorry you are having to go through all that!

Darla,   I hope and pray that they set up your Dad for an MRI right away,  I am sorry you are going through crap with the siblings.  When my Mom was sick I was the one there with her all the time. The others always had some type of commitment or excuse.  Big hgs to your Dad.
