So now that, for the most part, we have curtailed our addictions to food...how many of us have picked up a new addiction to fill the void..... I confess, mine has been shopping, specifically, clothes shopping and the Credit Card bill reflects it...please everyone pray to the lottery gods that I win some day :)

There is a lot of people that think there is no trans addiction but studies really have shown this. Mine........there is a list. Organization is off the chain, maybe more OCD. Shopping!  I can't get enough. I think drinking alcohol could become one but I tread water with that, cause I know the out come. Going to the gym has been issues for me, I have been there two times in one day.

I think this topic needs to be stressed more when you are preparing for surgery. I almost became addicted to red wine. I have never been a big drinker but all the sudden, I was drinking alot of wine. after a weekend of drinking a bottle a day, I realized something was wrong and have stopped doing it. Luckily I realized it earlier. It would have been alot harder otherwise. unfortunately for me, I am still using food. Not sure why the surgery didn't take that away for me, but alas, I am struggling every day to make the right choice. Today is such a good day though. I exercised a little in the morning and am drinking a protein shake. I will not be eating a bag of skittles today.

I think my worst addiction is the one I had to kick before surgery and that's smoking.  I quit for an entire month only to come home from surgery to a houseful of smokers.  yeah my will was broken   Before you beat me down.....I'm going to try again now that my house is empty.

Aaron - You know I say this with a great deal of affection - if you don't stop killing yourself this way, I am going to kick your ass!!!  I don't care if you're bigger than me, you should be afraid!!!! When you meet my Mom, if you're extra nice, I'll have her show you the ugly damn scar she has from having 1/2 of her left lung removed in 2003.  That was, without a doubt, the worst period of my life, to say nothing of hers.  She was supposed to be in the hospital for 7 days, it ended up being 3 weeks and she finally came home at 5:00 on Christmas Eve. I sympathize, it's as hard stopping as it is losing weight, but it stops NOW, do you hear me????!!! I do NOT want the first time I see you to be in a coffin. Love you!! Tia

Aaron:  I'm only telling you this story because I got love for you baby. So my brother calls a couple of years ago and tells me that his dog is very ill.  Come to find out the dog has lung cancer.  The dog passed away only months after he was diagnosed.  My brother and his wife were totally distraught.  The only thing I could think of was, what if the same thing happens to you or your wife (they both smoke).   I know it sounds harsh, but I love both of them and don't want to see them go out the same way. Please try!!!
