Anyone have Dr Mark Kligman?
Hi everyone. I am new to this board. My name is Jill and all my friends call me Jilly. I will be 33 on Wednesday and I have decided to finally get the RNY after 8 years of debating the issue. I feel like I have put it off long enough. I have a very supportive husband name Mike. We lived in Shady Side for many years but left after the passing of our 6 year old son. We have lived in Pasadena now for 5 years. I have three beautiful daughters.
I went to a seminar conducted by surgeon Mark Kligman and found him to be a very warm, professional and sincere surgeon. He took his time with the seminar and one by one spoke to everyone at the end who had further questions. He has done close to 850 surgeries I think he said and his success rate is 100%. That is AMAZING! Of course him being a trauma surgeon made me feel safe too. But despite all of the great information I still have the jitters. I still think something could go wrong. Is this normal? Did anyone else use this surgeon? He is at the University of Maryland. Again I really liked him and feel like he is the right surgeon for me. With my insurance Federal Blue Cross I can have the surgery at anytime. They dont request you wait 6 months. So its all up to me now and I am still a bit nervous. Ok sorry to ramble on ;o) can you tell im a newbie? LOL Thanks everyone. ~Jilly ~
Oh great! That would be nice to attend a support group. Thanks for that info. I will keep an eye out on that. Every bit of info I can get together will be AWESOME!! I am nervous but I really want this surgery, I think it will change my life. ;o) How did you get your picture for your avatar? It keeps telling me every pic I try is too big. Ugh! LOL By the way I saw your summer shorts pic. WOW!!! That is a difference in one year? That is AMAZING! You look great! ;o) ~Jilly~
Welcome Jilly
I too was a newbie in early May and now am a newbie post op of 6weeks from RNY and am doing well. It is perfectly normal to be nervous. You will get great support here. I am an old AACO girl, I now don't live that far out, I live on Kent Island and work in Greenbelt. Welcome again and good luck on your WLS decision.

Hey Aaron. ;o) Thanks!!! So did he really get you out of bed an hour after surgery like he says he does? I have a feeling he does! He seems great though. So how are you feeling? How long did it take for your pain to go away? Im worried about how long it will take me to recoup because I run a daycare at home and I hate to be closed. LOL I know I will need atleast a week but I hear it takes several? Thanks ~Jilly~
Hi Jilly!
Actually they had me get up and walking as soon as I was somewhat coherent after surgery. by the end of my stay I did like 50 laps around the floor! It was great to walk though. I currently feel like nothing's ever happened internally although i know something has since I've been melting away LOL As for returning to work, I had my surgery on may 8th and I was driving my car as soon as I got home from the hospital (didn't even take pain meds since the day after surgery) and when i got home I drove to the gym and walked on the treadmill! I was back to work on the 27th...however I'm a programmer so work for me does not include heavy lifting so that was ok for me to do. if you will be lifting anything heavier than 25 pounds then it will be longer for you.......but get all your protein in. protein will make you heal faster! also, remember to get a pill crusher because they will send you home with prescriptions to fill and they all come in pill form!
