Dr. Averbach/fills?

Hoe long does Dr A make you go between fills? One local lapbandster near me told me on lapbandtalk that he told her 3 months until her 2nd fill. Is this true? I hope not.

Did you go to the Pre-Op Class? The nurse explained in the class that you MAY be able to get a fill every 2 weeks.

Dr. Averbach requires a 3 day food diary prior to each fill. He also stated that if after 2 weeks you have NOT lost any weight, to call back in and schedule a fill.  I was under the impression that he would not do a fill prior to 2 weeks..but he would do them every two weeks IF needed.

Thanks Heathercat I did go to Pre op but there wer so many questions that there were times things were sidetracked. I know Kathy said something about one perosn comes in every two weeks but my friend was told 3 months and she juts had her first fill, so I was confused.

I had my surgery with Dr. Averbach in December. I've had two fills so far, but that's because that's all I've felt  needed. I had my first one about 6 weeks after surgery. He put in 2cc's. The second one was at the end of March and he only added 1/2 a cc. I hit a plateau shortly after that and didn't lose any weight for about 2 months, but I didn't think it had to do with the tightness of the band. It was just my body trying to adjust to the weight loss, I think. I feel that my band is about perfect right now...I can eat just about anything, but I definitely feel full after only a relatively small amount. My plateau finally broke a few weeks ago and I've been losing slowly but steadily again. To answer your intitial question, Dr. A tells me to schedule a follow-up every three months, but if I feel lke I need a fill before then, I can call to schedule an appointment and we will evaluate my need. I like that he isn't rigid about a fill schedule, but lets me decide when I feel it's necessary. I've lost 40 pounds and am training for a triathlon in August. I feel great! (I know, I need to post a new picture!)
