OK.....a scary thought AS we all know people have gained the weight back with WLS Does the pouch stretch or is it a myth?  How is it that people gain all the weight back and then some?

Jen I am not really sure how to answer the questions but this is what I know, not sure on how much truth there is to it but here is my .02. My sister is almost 4 years out and she still had 20 pounds to loss and then she got pregnant.  She then had 30 pounds to loss after the baby was born. He just turned a year old last week.  She has 50 pounds to loss.  She did the 5 day pouch test and has lost 12 pounds so far. From what I hear and know, you will ALWAYS have your tool, it depends on how you use it.   I am told you can jump start your weight loss, but with that being said I am only 10 months out.  I don't know what the future will hold for me and my pouch but I want to work like hell to keep this weight off.  I DO NOT WANT TO EVER GO BACK!

So then I am assuming you gain the weight by  1. eating lots of carbs  2. high calorie drinks 3. eating all day long rather then 3-5 meals a day? since we can't stretch the pouch I just don't understand how we will absorb all the calories

From what I have read, you can't stretch your pouch. You can return to poor eating habits, however.

I tend agree with the others even though I am a newbie.  I think if you develop old habits and eat more of the wrong stuff in small increments it could possibly come back on you. I for one, am looking forward to losing all my excess weight within a year and I hope I am successful, to date I think it has been a little while since I got weighed so far in 6 weeks I lost 40 pounds.   I don't get obessed about the scale, I just get weighed when I go to the doctors, I focus on trying to get the fluids, proteins and integrating the proper food in my system and look forward to the day, that I can go to the gym to excercise, I am sure going back to work will this week will prove to be better for me.  You see I am one of the crazy people that love their job and have a wonderful boss and good people to work with.  Hell, let's face it my work life right now is better than my home life.   But i wills soon change that! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

Good one! The way I see it is no, you cannot. Your pouch will only stretch so far then it's done. I think, if I remember correctly, your pouch, depending on how small your surgeon made it to begin with, will not get any bigger than an egg.  You can form bad eating habits, eat the wrong foods and gain weight back that way. I hear horror stories about people who purposefully 'trick' their pouch so they can eat more and different things. WHY in the world would you WANT to do that is beyond me but people do do that. Everyone has their days where they can eat more than other days...believe me, I just had one of those days on Thursday!!!! BUT it's not constant so I don't think you can stretch it back out. There's MY 2 cents! LOL Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th!!!! Enjoy your Saturday!!!
