Hello Everyone I have care first blue choice hmo, it is  a small group ins and they are telling me I do not have the benefit for the surgery. They say it is not a state mandate for small groups. I am so upset because this is a life saving surgery for me! My doctors thought I had cushings disease for the past  year. I have all the symptoms and horrible side effects but it has now been ruled out. My surgeon says I have limited life expectency due to all my co morbidities! I am only 31 years old! The combination of the hypercortalism, type 2 diabites and pcos, my dr says it is virtually impossible for me too loose weight fighting those hormones! The hypercortalism has really damaged my organs and hormones and given me so many life threatening problems. It is just amazing to me that the ins wont cover a life threatening surgery!  Social service wont help because I am not disabled and getting a loan is out of the question due to credit problems. Most all of my family is not supportive at all and will not even help me to raise the money. Luckily I have good friends and a supportive husband who are helping me with a dinner and silent auction and a yard and bake sale to raise money.  I am looking to talk to anyone who has ideas or thoughts on my problem. I would feel so blessed for a supportive  person to talk to. :)   Cindy                                                                         My brother did set up a nice myspace page for me myspace.com/fundraiserforcindy

Hi Cindy, I am sorry your insurance does not cover WLS.  I am glad that you do have a brother and husband that is supportive and is helping you with ways to raise money for your surgery.  I pray that you do get to raise enough money.   I wish you all the best in your journey.  Bake sales usually works great too.  Take care & Hugs

Cindy I am so sorry. I wonder if you could apply for MA?  I had BCBS PPO and it did not pay for anything, I work for a very Large Hospital.  So I was added to DH insurance and got my surgery that way.  I would check into other insurance and see what they have to say, that is a start. Please keep us posted. Hugs Kristen
