Grrrrr.... Dr Schweitzer's office staff
Not his clinical people.... I love Pat and I love Dr. S.... but his office people.
I had my (insurance approved) revision from band to sleeve in January, and I am STILL waiting..... 6 months later.... to get reimbursed for paying Dr S's fees! Sure, I guess the problem is on both ends (they blame each other) but my experience, for 2 surgeries, is that his staff is extremely unorganized and unmotivated.
My advise? Keep your own good notes, and stay on top of them.
And I want my money! Barbara
Lisa, thanks for the suggestion.
My complaint is that no one in his office mentioned that in January, February, March, April, May, or June... and since this is my second surgery with Dr S, and I did not have to work with anyone but his staff the first time, I certainly wish that someone would have mentioned it before July, rather than telling me that it was being worked on. Losing use of over $3,000 due to someone forgeting to mention this detail to me is not acceptable, and I think potential patients of Dr. S will benefit from understanding the processes.
I was very happy to hear from Christine last week that the proper paperwork has been submitted. I'll be eagerly watching the mailbox. :)
Again, love Dr S. Trust him with my life.... literally.... but I think everyone knows his administrative support staff requires watching.

not about dr. s, but a similar question. i paid the psychologist a $70 copay at the time of the visit. i received my EOB and it stated that my copay was $51.50 should i call and request a refund or wait to see if they send one? visit was in june, so not a lot of time has passed.
Pamela D.,
Definitely YES. They billed my insurance company and my insurance company paid their agreed upon rate. Then they tried to come after me for the remainder (50%+). I almost paid it but decided to go ahead and check with insurance first. They called billing at Johns Hopkins and got them to correct it while I was on the other line. In my opinion, in this day and age, we just can't afford to be throwing our hard earned money away because of a "clerical" error.
