F*****************CK. Just kill me now.

I have been having an extremely difficult time with eating.  I get sick after nearly every meal and throw up at least once a week.  I have been like this from the beginning of trying solids.  So I just kept telling myself that I wasn't ready for what I was eating yet.  But it has started to get worse, where I get sick off of things that used to be fine (like cheese sticks).  Also, I cannot eat anywhere near 2 oz.  Lately, I can't even eat half of a cheese stick. But I went to see Ranessa McNally yesterday (she's my therapist) and she had WLS.  She said that the way I am feeling is totally NOT normal and I needed to call my surgeon immediately.   So today I spent forever on hold with Dr. Moein's office.  Finally I hung up and called back and pressed the number for "medical emergency".  I spoke with someone and she said she'd have someone call me back.  About 2 hours later the NP (Kate) called me back and asked me about my issues.  Then she said she'd call me back.  She spoke with Dr. Moein and he said he wants me to have an Upper GI to determine if I need to have an endoscopy.   FUCK. FUCK **** I still shudder at the memories of having the Upper GI pre-surgery.  I gagged and gagged trying to get those cups of pure evil down. And that was when I had a normal sized stomach and no nausea.  How in the world am I going to do it post-surgery?  The thought of it makes me want to just say "Eh, who needs to eat?  I can live like this."  I'd rather have the surgery 50 times over than do another Upper GI.  Seriously.   Why oh why can't I just have the endoscopy without the stupid Upper GI?  I seriously think it is akin to torture.  I am sitting here remembering it and it is making me sick to my stomach.  I have a horrible gag reflex.  When I had to drink the phospho soda the day before surgery  it made me vomit.

Oh I am so sorry you are having issues. Maybe you are getting a stricture.  Why don't you call Dr. Moe again and tell him exactly how you feel about the UGI and ask him if he can have you do the endoscopy instead?    I hope you are ok and it is nothing. I can totally understand your frustration. Please keep us posted. ((((hugs))))

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Well that does suck BUT I could call him and tell him you want to have the EGD.  Knowing how you are doing with foods he should just do the EGD but that is just my two cents.  Tell him what you want. Best wishes and keep us posted. Hugs Kristen

oh, i see we feel the same way about UGI's.  i DETEST those things.  i had one almost 20 years ago and it was horrible horrible horrible.  when i learned i had to have one again as part of my preapproval  testing, i just about cried.  of course, they told me that it's SOOO much better than it was back then.  um.. NO IT WASN'T.  i seriously wanted to vomit all over the tech.  i truly, truly hate that test.  sounds like these ladies have the right idea.  call the doctor back and ask if there is anyway to be tested for what he's looking for without the UGI.  it's worth a try.
