3 THINGS FOR FRIDAY EVE!!!

Good morning!!  Well, technically, it's most everyone's Friday, right?  Boo if you gotta work tomorrow, yay if you get holiday pay for it!!!  In today's economy, it's hard to pass up overtime and working holidays, I know. Today, I'm grateful for: 1.  My freedom - As we all should be.  Remember all of the freedoms that we have, that we can chose to vote an African American or a woman into the country's top spot, that we have jobs, that we have roofs over our heads and food in our ever shrinking bellies.  So many people in this world do not have what we take for granted.  And I for one, am grateful to every veteran of every war and our military personnel who, to this day, fight to ensure that we keep what we have.   2.  The men and women of Maryland's law enforcement agencies.  As Prince George's County PD prepares to bury one of its own today, remember that every day, they're putting their lives on the line to ensure the safety of the citizens of Maryland.  I don't care what anyone says, these people don't make nearly enough money for what they do and what they put up with.  It's not until you get into the top tier of our rank structure that you actually see any appreciable difference in your salary.  Of course, by that time, most of them are administrators and have, unfortunately, forgotten what it's like to be the guy on the road, dealing with drug traffickers, speeders who may or may not be wanted and who may or may not be armed, and the seemingly average John Doe who may be holding his family hostage.  These men and women do it because they love it and believe in it, NOT for the money.  There is no amount of money in this world that could make me walk out the door at all hours of the day and night, not knowing if I'll return to see my family.  So, the next time you hear a "donut" joke or get pulled over for speeding and want to cop a tude with the officer, cut them some slack, okay? In that same vein, I'm not ashamed to say that I'm not sorry that the man who fatally ran Corporal Richard Findley down is dead, strangled in his cell.  The killer's family is up in arms at the "heinous disrespect for his life."  Well, where the HELL were they when the ******* was gunning his motor, aiming his vehicle right for the officer?  Sorry, karma's a *****  And even that will be of no consolation to the family and friends of the officer who left behind a wife and two children. 3.  On a lighter note (I know, you're saying - thank God!), summer fruits and veggies - OMG!!  This year's cantalopes and watermelons are incredible!!!  We have lots of produce stands and local farmers markets around - if you have one near you, support your farmers, NOT the grocery stores who import from Chile and Mexico!! Okay, everyone, have a wonderful day and in the event I'm not online tomorrow a great, safe 4th of July and weekend! Hugs, Tia 3.

Hi Ya'all 1. The men and women in uniform, whether military, fire, police, nurse etc     They get paid so little and give so much...ever wonder how it is that we pay     entertainers millions of dollars to entertain us, but those that save our lives get paid a pittance...does that seem WRONG to anyone else??? 2. That I have a job a house and enough money to live on eventhough at times it seems that the Credit Card Company and Uncle Sam take it all... 3.That as much of a piggy that I have been over the past few days, I have mantained my weight..THANK YOU GOD!!! Happy 4th Everyone Stay Safe  Jen

Hey Jen!!! You know, I was just thinking about the incongruity of this and was gonna make it part of my morning soapbox, but you did it for me.  I keep getting these pop-ups on my email provider telling me that "Jolie checks into French hospital to have twins!!"  WTF do I care?  And while we're talking about celebs - although I'm definitely pro-adoption of any needy child, WHY do these celebs feel the need to go to other countries to adopt children?  Aren't there enough children (babies and older) needing good homes and loving families right here at home?  Granted, from what I hear, adoption in this country can be long, drawn-out and very expensive.  But these are people making millions.  I don't get it.  Are they adopting outside of the country for the extra publicity?? Charity begins at home, people!!  DAMMIT!!!  Okay, stepping off my soapbox now!! As far as you being a piggy, I'd venture to say that it's nothing like it would've been pre-op - RIGHT???  RIGHT??  That's what I thought. Have a great holiday weekend! Tia

What can I say....great minds think a like.....Hell we are just damn smart This one is personal for me because, and yes, stepping on the box, my mom, aunt and cousins are all nurses or paramedics...somehow I don't think these celebs could do anything for me if I was lying on the street except yell action, or could you move your body you don't look pathetic enough..... And for the adoption...hell if I could afford it I would have a baseball team of kids....adopt at home, people, donate to causes at home, the US giov't send enough aid to fioreign countries....we have starving families here....homeless and displaced families here...and with teh worsening of the housing crisis more and more families need help. ok, stepping off soap box Happy 4th

Yay its TGIT today....lol 1. I have to ditto Tia's #1. I honestly had other things to list. Upon reading that I felt it did derserve a my top spot because that is so true if you think about it!! 2. The pool - After weeks of my two year old pleading for me to get in with her, I finally did the other day and now I LOVE IT. I have stayed away from the pool for so long due to a very embarrassing moment years ago when I broke a ladder getting out of pool due to my weight but I am so glad I decided I got the courage up to get back in and enjoy that time with my daugther. Not to mention...I really did love tha****er aerobics class. 3. It seems like we are all counting down to beach time but wohoo I only have 5 days!!!
