3 THINGS FOR MONDAY!

Hey everybody!  Hope you all had a good weekend - mine was just okay, filled with a "weird" brunch date on Sunday and LOTS of transcribing work.  It's a wonder my fingers didn't fall out.  I think I typed for a consistent 11 hours on Sunday!!!  Despite it just being "okay," I still have things to be grateful for: 1.  Weird brunch dates - I met a really nice guy online about a week and a half ago - we seemed to have the same interests, but evidently, NOT the same life goals.  We only touched briefly on the subject of children during our emails - pretty much, "Do you like children?"  So we met yesterday, and seemed to get along well.  I was still eating, he had already inhaled a beer, a burger and onion rings, when we again talked about kids.  He went on and on about how he couldn't wait to be a father, and I reminded him that his profile said, "Maybe," and he said he needed to change it to "Definitely."  He asked how many I wanted!  UM................ZERO!!!  But actually, I kind of told him my philosophy, that I don't feel I need to give birth to be a mother, yada, yada, and finally, just had to tell him I am unable to have children.  He said, "Well, that's great that you have your brother's children in your life," then excused himself to go to the men's room.  When he came back, he didn't sit down, but said, "Listen, I paid the bill.  We clearly want different things - I'm sorry, I like you, but I can't consider someone who can't have children.  I don't want to adopt, I want my own!"  And with that, he left, and yes, I was still eating!!!  So I grabbed a local paper from the front of the restaurant, and continued eating my crab omelette!!  SIGH.  Oh, well, at least I got a free brunch!!! 2.  That in a little over 3 weeks, I WON'T be posting because I'll be at the beach.  We have lots of things planned and I can't wait just to hit the lounge chair with a couple dozen good books!!!  Oh, do I need a vacation!!! 3.  Homegrown manicures and pedicures - I REFUSE to pay good $$ for something I can do just as well, if not better, at home.  I gave myself both yesterday and am sporting freshly painted fingers and toes, complete with flowers and crystals!!!  The only thing I really miss is the occasional foot massage, but maybe I can ask Santa to include that in Mr. Right's package!!!!!  I don't have a foot fetish, but LOVE a good foot massage!!!! Have a great day everybody!!! Tia

Thanks for the compliment on the brunch - weird, but I'm almost used to it by now.  That's a great Wow! indeed, but I have some private thoughts that I'll email you on. I'm glad you're getting away - it'll be good for you.  Make sure someone takes pics of you parasailing.  BUT........God forbid.........should you go "SPLAT!" ask them NOT to post it!!!!  LOL!!! Have a great day! Tia

Hi Tia,

I agree with Darla about the brunch date!  What a jerk!  You are too wonderful for someone like that.  I am so glad you are going to get a much needed vacation the lounge chair and the books sound great!!!  How long will you be on vacation?    The only down part about it is that I will miss your posts!, I so look forward to seeing you on line, you are great! and you keep us all motivated, encouraged!  My three things for monday 1) I took my blood pressure this morning without medication and it was 121/77 which was really good usually it is about 77/54 or something like that. so we will see 2) I am going to try to go to the fitness center for the first time today, and try to get some excercise. 3) The daily board here and all the entries during the week, I so look forward to see how everyone is doing and keep up on the updates!  Have a wonderful Day!!

Hi Terri! Thanks for the words of encouragement!!!  The funny thing is, I wasn't disappointed, which tells me that I really wasn't all that "into" him.  There've only been two guys since January that I've really cared about having a relationship with - I know myself so well that I find if I'm angry when it ends, it didn't mean that much - it's when I feel sad that I know they meant something!!!!   We're going on vacay for a week, from July 19-26, but I think I'm taking off of work on the 17th and 18th, too - haven't decided yet.  There's always so much to do to get two households ready.  Last year, I left my brother to his own devices, and he forgot ALL of his shirts and had to go to the OC Walmart!!!!!!  LOL!!!  Don't worry, you all can take turns posting while I'm gone!!  I thought (briefly) about taking a laptop, and then decided against it.  I've got my cell if anything that earth shattering happens!!! I'm glad your blood pressure is righting itself.  Just continue to monitor it and do what you're supposed to do!!!!  Don't overdo it at the fitness center!!!

Hugs,

Tia

Tia: What a creep.  I couldn't have children either.  That is definately the sad part of my life, always feels like something is missing, but it is what it is.  You'll find someone that is worthy of you one day! 1.  That I'm out of the hospital and feeling better.  Had a bought with a virus on Wednesday night and went to the hospital for some IV fluids and a bunch of blood work.  I will give anything for a nurse that can hit a vein on the first try.  Can you believe that they stuck me 10 times during my visit?  I'm so bruised up. 2.  That I got some time with my grandson over the weekend.  He is so special and smart!!! 3.  That this weekend is NYC weekend.

Hey Lisa - Well, creep is a little kind for what I called him, but okay!!!  I DON'T regret not being able to have children - as I said, I didn't have to give birth to be a mother.  In every sense but the biological one, I am a mother to my niece and nephew.  In fact, they look more like me than they do my brother.   As I get older, I find I have less and less patience, too!!   I'm so sorry to hear you were in the hospital.  Unfortunately, my Dad had gotten to be such a frequent ER visitor, that I knew to have them call someone from IV Therapy to stick him.  Insist on a specialist - it's your right as a patient!!! Ooooh, I thought NYC was this weekend.  I will certainly be looking forward to hearing all about your adventures!

Hugs,

Tia

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? OK sorry....just had to say that about your brunch thing. Amazing. He should have had that in his profile from the get. Well, like you said, a free meal.  I'm always up for that!!!! LOL Things I am grateful for today: 1. One more day with my dad. Chemo is kicking his butt and he's sick most days but he's still hanging tough with an amazing attitude.  I have learned a lot from him. 2. My friends new and old who have proven to be amazing people that I tend to sometimes take for granted. I'm learning to stop doing that.  3. Sam's Club. Had a really good shopping trip there on Saturday. Need to go back and get all the stuff I saw but passed by.
