Roller Coasters

Last September in Hershey Park, I was mortified when I was kicked off a roller coaster because I couldn’t fit in the seat. It was the catalyst they help to decide to have the surgery! I am in Ohio and yesterday I went to Cedar Point and road just about every roller coaster they had, including the millennium force! LIFE IS GOOD!

I put 2 pics on my site - I'd post them here, but don't know how????

Mary.. Cedar Point is awesome!  I have never endured the public humiliation that you probably felt, but I have certainly endured the private humiliation.  Two years ago, we took our girls to Busch Gardens near Williamsburg.  I was not having any problems and (silly me) didn't even consider that I might.  I hadn't been to an amusement park in several years and I did not consider that my weight gain in that time period would have an impact.  Boy, was I wrong.  I went to get on one of the coasters with my family and I quickly realized that I was not fitting properly in the seat.  Rather than get off the ride, I decided to just endure the discomfort.  About a third of the way into the ride, the force of the ride "pushed" me into this seat!  When the ride ended, I quietly asked my husband to assist me with getting out of the seat and then my hips were in pain for the rest of our vacation.  Recently, I told my husband that most of what I suffer due to my size I have never shared with him.  I was so afraid that it would alarm him or even disgust him to know the difficulties I have with something as simple as wiping after using the toilet.  I stopped attending a couple sporting events that we like because the seats were so uncomfortable, but I never told him this was the reason.  He was very concerned that I had never shared any of this with him.  I'm very relieved to now be discussing these things with him.  He is supportive, but scared, of the surgery.

While I am not a roller coaster rider, 3 years ago I went to Universal Studios with my family.  I was hesitant to ride a majority of the rides due to my size.  The rides I did get on were ok but I remember riding the Jimmy Neutron ride and let me tell you, the bar came to close on the seat and I thought I was going to have to tell them to get me out.  The bar ended up putting a mark on my belly because I was trapped in the seat.  I never ever EVER want anything like that to happen again.   This year things will be different.  In fact, we are going to Busch Gardens this week and while I still am not a rollers coaster rider I will ride all the rides I can this week.

Mary! Thank you for sharing this special moment with us. I have always enjoyed rides, but I have stayed away for a long time because of the fear of not fitting and/or falling out because of it. Your wonderful experience of being able to this has encouraged me to try this again. Congratulations and thank you! Debbie
