11 MONTHS OUT WOW MOMENT

My niece is getting married in September and a couple weeks ago she asked me what  I was going to wear to the wedding :  to be honest the thought had not even crossed my mind>  Well one of Mom's friends had given her a gift card for Macys  and she wanted to go get some blouses today since we are going to the Ocean next week - I have never ever shopped in Macys-  being a 4-5 X for several years made sure of that  fact.   Well right next to the fitting rooms were the special occasion dresses-  Mom saw one she liked and I said try it on -- its only 2 months to the wedding and as long as we are here  try it -  Well Mom decided it was too young for her ( shows a little cleavege ) -- She said here you try it on  -  so I did  - and for the first time in years I tried on a " ****tail dress"  -   I stood there in the dressing room - tears running down my face - looked over at Mom whose eyes were filling up too and I said  " Mom , I can shop at Macys ( not that I will too much cause  the prices are too high)!!!! Anyway I didn't buy the dress but I do know where I can find it if I can not find anything else.  I actually saw one a size too small that I would love too get but not sure I want to spend $200.00 on a dress that may or may not fit in September.   I have bought new clothes since surgury but this was just one of those occasions I want too look dazzeling  -- and I know now I will. Anyway thanks for letting me spout off --- I just want to let the preops and new postops know that the Wow moments never end. Have a good sunday everyone !!!

congratulations!  and thanks for thinking of us pre-ops.  i still cannot even imagine myself in your position.  the idea that it could be me within a year is just still too unbelievable for me.  my best friend is getting married in october in atlanta.  i know that i probably will not have undergone significant weight loss by then, but i am really hoping that i will be feeling thinner and more confident by then.  if things go well, there's a real possibility i will not need a seatbelt extender for the flight down! 

Darla That is wonderful and how exciting.  I can go anywhere now and shop, I so love that.  I had the same kind of experience in Macy's after the New Year and there was tears for me.  Time for a trip to New York to shop, we need to be on that next. That is so wonderful! Hugs Kristen

Darla, I love love love the WOW moments!!!!! At almost two years out I still have them and they never cease to amaze me! You are doing great and being able to shop anywhere is one of the best feelings! I shopped at Victoria's Secret for the first time this past February and OMG was that a moment!!!! LOL Never in a million years did I think I could set foot in that store for the clothing! Keep up the good work and enjoy the new you!!!! Congrats!

Thanks everyone   -  Getting teared up agin bu the show of support you are all giving me.  And you know I think this board is great because we do inspire each other.  Debbie for example hit the big 200 Lbs. loss mark this past week and I know how hard she has worked for this : We see each other several times a week at the gym    - I sometimes feel like we are making our own DVR support group at the MAC LOL - It is rare that I  leave there without running into someone who has had WLS with DVR. Anyway thanks again everyone :  going to hit the MAC this afternoon- maybe by September I can get that dress - its a size 18 - but I started at a 32/34 so an 18 would truly blow me away. Darla
