significant hair loss???
I started loosing my hair about 2 months post op and I lost a lot. One one noticed but me. When I brushed my hair it just seemed to come out by the handfulls, but not in patchy clumps. I am 6 months out now and the loss is decreasing. The best thing to do is to make sure you get your protein in and drink a lot of water. I have really long hair so I had it cut into long layers and that seemed to help having anyone notice. I have heard that it grows back really nicely! Some people take biotin and some have used Nioxin. Not really sure if they work.

i am so appreciative of the responses and the many suggestions. i have this list i'm making of my post-op "medicine" cabinet. do you think that it would help to add things like biotin to my supplements now?
Yes -taking Biotin should not hurt you. I mentioned to Dr. VR that I was taking this at my 6 month post op appt and he said it is usually what he recommends. NOTE: Biotin will not grow hair. It does help make hair stronger and less prone to falling out. So, yes, I think it is a good idea to start before surgery. I wish I had.
I had surgery 4 yrears ago...in the beginning about 5 months out I lost alot of hair. I had thin blonde hair to begin with so I was a total wreck thinking I would go bald. Thankfully it does stop in about three-five months and it does grow back. I never did get bald. I did try those fancy products the salon offers but they dont work..at least they didnt for me. But keep in mind though it is temporary and it does come back...Ive never read about anyone going completely bald. Think of it in a positive way as a few more pounds lost lol

I like the way you think!!!! I had the same "follicly challenged" head of hair, or lack thereof. I tried not to stress as that can make it worse. Plus, I told myself I'd rather be thinner with thin hair than thicker with thick hair!!!
Mine happened during the same time frame and now, it's better than ever!!!
