I need to find the right therapist!

I relocated here a year ago for a new job and am having a hard time finding a therapist and other resources....  I live near Westminster and work in Towson.  I had surgery in 2002 <-- back when alchohol wasn't even remotely close to being an issue.  After my final cosmetic surgery in 2005, the alchohol starting taking over.  I really need to find an appropriate resource here for help!  Is there any specific forum for this issue?  Do you know of a therapist that has experience with post bariatric patients and addiction transfers and/or issues with alcohol?  Any other suggestions ??   Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Kay! Welcome to the Maryland Board.  You'll find nothing but support and friendly shoulders here!!! There is an addiction forum, not sure how much traffic it gets. As far as therapists, the name you'll hear time and again is Ranesa McNally, 410-602-0102.  She is located on Old Court Road in Pikesville, so it's halfway between home and work for you, right off the Beltway.  And, coincidentally, it's right around the corner from my office, so we can meet for lunch or dinner if you'd like. Ranesa is a gem - she is a wls patient herself, having lost 170 pounds and she just recently underwent plastics.  She is amazing - it's just like sitting down with a girlfriend.  The best thing is - SHE GETS US!!!   By all means, join us here as often as you can.  We have get-togethers from time to time, so be on the lookout for that, too. Hope this helps!!  I wholeheartedly recommend Ranesa - several of my co-workers and ex-boyfriends are alive today thanks to her!!!  LOL!!! Hugs, Teresa (Tia)

I second everything that Tia said. Ranessa is an awesome lady and so helpful. Welcome to the forum and please know that we are here for you if you need a friend, a shoulder or to vent.   Take care and best wishes.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Laurie Donze, whose office is in Crownsville, I think, works with bariatric patients.  She's not my therapist, but I know her.  Our kids were classmates last year.  She was very encouraging to me when I was researching bariatric surgery.

Thanks, you guys are awesome!  :)  Since you have been so helpful, does anyone know of a great primary vare Dr that is also familiar with bariatric patients?
