I got my date
What a great feeling, getting your date & being able to start planning. Oh my, I'm not sure to where to start, what do I need??? This will be very differnet going on this adventure without anyone to hold my hand, This is a first, WOW this is starting a whole new set of feelings. In recent years I have had my husband but it's all me. I'm not sure how that will feel coming out of surgery ALL alone. I guess I just need to focus on the future. If anyone has any info of what I will need my first few days please tell me.thanks
One thing I've learned during my journey is to not be impatient. It only caused me more stress which I didn't need! Once Latasha gets the approval, it's usually within a few weeks that you can get scheduled. This will, of course, depend on Dr. Singh's schedule. Are you required to do the six month supervised "program"? Have you had all of your pre-op testing done? All of this has to be completed before they will submit you for approval. Best of luck. Deb
I needed to do my 6 months after seeing him but once I finished that it has gone very fast. His office had the paperwork sent out the day I finished & 4 days later was approved. Getting the surgery date took 8 days only becasue Mary was on vacation last week. I called the insurance company everyday, I'm sure that helped.
Thanks! I already had my 6 months done when I went in and everything in order as far as what the insurance requires. I did my psych eval the same day I saw Dr Singh so I know they have to wait until she writes it up and gives it to them before they can submit it. Do they let you know when it has been submitted?
Patience is not my virtue. lol I know it should all go smoothly since I had the insurance fax me their list of requirements and I made sure I had everything they ask for. But as my boyfriend tells me often, I worry too much.

Just went back and read your post again. Depending on whether Dr. Singh puts on the two weeks liquid, you will need to stock up on broths, SF jello, SF popsicles and protein drinks. Don't over pack for the hospital cause you probably won't use it. There are nice fans in each room so you will be cool. I took gas x strips (which I didn't need but was able to pass on to one of my surgery sisters who did need them!), my robe, my MP3 player (it does get preety loud at times and that helps block out the sound), my cell phone (and charger!) and a good book. I did actually read while I was there. I would also suggest lip balm since it gets really dry in there. Just remember to be PRO-ACTIVE about getting out of bed after your surgery! It is important to WALK to expell the gasses that are pumped into you during surgery. Make sure you have someone to go with you to the hospital. If you don't let me know. I'm off that day and could come be with you. Deb
