Had my first fill today with Dr. Averbach. Just wanted to let any of you other bandsters in MD who haven't had a fill yet (and might be a patient or Dr. Averbach's): It all went well!! Didn't hurt at all!!! He put 3 cc's in. He told me to stay on liquids for the rest of today, do 'mushies' tomorrow and back to regular food the next day.

So far, so good!!

That's great, Katherine!  I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. A, so it sounds like you're in good hands!!   Keep us posted on your progress! Tia

I am thinking of switching doctors .. going to st agnes.   I assume with a 3cc fill you have a 10cc band?   Dr moein from gbmc refused to give me more than 1.5cc.. needles to say it was a waste of time and a morale buster.    Can you give a few more details about your doc and the fills..  I'd  really appreciate it. How long does it take to get an appt?

Hi kelled44:

Dr. Averbach's office is actually up off of Rt. 40, near Rolling Road. (I think it's Exit 15 off of the beltway....). I'm not too sure about the wait time for an appointment. I want to say, if my memory serves me, that when I called for my initial appointment, I waited maybe a month -- maybe not even that long. I'm not sure how it works when you are switching docs. Give them a call though. His office staff has always been very pleasant and helpful.

Good luck!

Katherine

I called his office and hung up pretty aggravated. It seems these docs are all about money. If you switch from another doc he has a $300 fee plus $100 for a fill.  I told the lady I have insurance that covers the appts and the fills and she insisted they will bill the insur co AND me. How can they get away with this crap?  These docs sign a contract that says they can NOT charge the patient above the agreed amt.  I dont get it.   Can someone explain this to me?
