Post Op Visits Question

Hey everyone!  I am in the process of getting approved by Kaiser.  I am told that I will have a doctor from GW, presumably Dr. Lin or another of the doctors there.   My question is this:  I am nervous about how much time I will lose from work for the surgery, and then for the followup appointments.  How often are the follow ups and how flexible are the appointment times. Kaiser is very restrictive for their surgeries.  They will only refer to a GW hospital doctor and I live in Baltimore!  I am afraid that I will be taking off from work for full days just to have a check up! What is your experience?

First of all, I live in Frederick County and had surgery in Baltimore so I can sympathize with the long drives to appointments.   I had lap RNY and was out of work for 6 weeks due to the type of work I do.  I probably could have gone back after 3 weeks, but there would have been a lifting restriction which is pretty hard to do as a nurse.  I have made all of my follow up appointments for first thing in the morning which gets me to where I need to be later in the morning before 11 am. I hope all works out well for you.

After surgery you have a week follow up visit, then if all is well another visit in a month, then 3 months, 6 months, 9 months & 12 months. I hope the traveling works out for you.   Best of luck!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
