Hi guys  I feel like I am having a hard time getting my protein in.   Yesterday I had a scrambled egg with a slice of cheese.   About a tablespoon of imitation crab meat.  A 16 0z.  carnation instant breakfast with skim milk 2 packets of the instant breakfast and a scoop of the whey protein.   What do you guys think of that??

I think it's fine, considering it's only been a week since your surgery!!  Your tummy's still swollen and adjusting, and it'll get easier to get more in.   I'm SHOCKED that you can do a scrambled egg - even now, scrambled seems too "pebbly" for me, but I'm glad you can. How's your fluid intake? Tia

I agree with Tia, you are doing great for just being a week out! I was on soups and protein drinks for about three weeks. :o)

yeah you're doing great!  I was on runny pudding and pureed soups for a couple weeks after surgery then I could switch to scrambled eggs and other soft foods.  Did your doctor tell you that you could have that when you got home?  I know the general rule of thumb is that you're on clear liquids while you're in the hospital then full liquids when you get home and then soft foods three weeks after surgery.  Did someone change the rules on us?  LOL  Should I be eating regular food now?

"Should I be eating regular food now?"  Keep dreaming, blue eyes!!!  LOL!! Actually, all the different surgeons we have seem to all have different parameters.  I know some come home on fluids, but some on pureed foods.   Mine was pretty much like yours, Aaron, and yes, if I had to go back to that, I'd be climbing to the roof and taking hostages!!!!!  LOL!!! Barb: I think you're doing great with your food and your weight loss.  I've only lost 17 lbs and I'm over 3 weeks out.  I still can't eat eggs sometime.  It's crazy:  at one meal I'll be fine and at the next they come right back up.  We weren't allowed eggs until our 3rd week out.  Keep on doing what your doing.

Thanks Lisa  I havnet had any problems yet.  But I am so scared I am gonna.  I hate to get sick so I am really nervous when I eat.  I guess that will take some time to pass.

I get sick on something at least 1X per day.  I've got to learn to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew and then chew some more.  I'm so used to gulping my food and chasing it with something to drink.  I've done pretty good today.   Breakfast:  Egg salad with 1 egg and a small amount of mayo & 1 slice toast Lunch:  Hard boiled egg and a low fat cheese snack. Nothing upset my stomach and it's all still in.
