Statistics from the Occupational Health and Safety Website: 99.7 percent of needlesticks/cut exposures do NOT lead to infection. I know it's still scarey, but I thought these statistics may help.

Add us to the prayer network. Poor mommy and babe! No child should EVER have to go through that and I hope that tech is FIRED! How dare they put a child at risk! How dare they! Hoping for a blessed miracle for Gia.

I join my positive thoughts and prayers with everyone else's. I can't even imagine the torture they are going through right now. I have to say I am quite angry as well. A health professional should know better than to do something like that regardless of their medical history!  Debbie

I like everyone else was shocked at this!  How could any health professional be so careless!!! I know it was hard for Cira to see this however, thank god she caught them when they did.   Everyone else on the post has said it all and I agree with them totally. Thoughts and prayers go out to for the Baby and the family.     Tia, you are a wonderful friend to Cira and thank god you provided the advice you did to her regarding the hospital and the attorney.  Terri

WHAT!!!  I am shocked.  What was that nurse thinking????  As a nurse, mom and human being, I am blown away.  Huge prayers for the family.  I will also pass on to my prayer group.

Tia / Cira:  First and most importantly my prayers are with you and your family.  But I do have something to share.  Your story gave me chills.  My husband Larry had this happen to him about 10 years ago.  It wasn't in a hospital but a tech used a dirty needle to draw blood from him during a blood test.  I totally freaked out.  He was tested and then retested and retested.  So far, so good.  The tech lost her job, which my husband didn't want to complain to her supervisor, but I had no problem doing.  I have learned that the chance of spreading the virus this was is very low.  I hope this helps and I am sorry that you have to go through this.  I am thinking of you and if you need anything ~ anything please let me know.
