Officially Started My Process!!
Ok so on Friday the 6th. I went for my seminar and consult with Dr Moazzez. I absolutely loved him and the seminar. Very informative and very upfront!! I have decided on the RNY and very happy with the decision after speaking with him. I felt immediate ease and comfort with him and thought THIS DOCTOR will be my surgeon. I spoke with his office staff and he gave me a list of all needed pre-op testing that I needed to take care of ASAP. The lady in the office told me that some UnitedHealth Care plans require no supervised diet and just require you meet the BMI requirements and if I didnt have to do the supervised diet process I could probably have surgery in July......OMGosh!!!!!!! I actually am not going to get my hopes up for that because if they tell me that I have to do the supervised diet for 6 months I dont want to be crushed......KWIM?!? I would like to be pleasantly suprised. I should know within a few days what my ins requirements are going to be and I can get going. Since I am overall good health (except for the weight) I dont have that much pre-op testing to do so YAY!!! Dr. Moazzez said he wanted me to loose 25 lbs pre surgery and he wanted me to start a modified Atkins diet immediately eating 70 grams of protein a day minimum and max of 30 grams of carbs a day. I have started that today and while doing some shopping over the weekend, Wow I didnt realize how hard that was going to be!! But I will give it my best! Wish me luck and thanks for the support and advice!!
I'm also doing the pre-op diet (high protein/low-fat/low-carb) and it's a little tough, but I figure it's better to get into the habit of it now. I'm having a really hard time giving up my diet soda, so that's my next thing to work on. If you want a pre-op diet buddy, let me know! I can use all the accountability I can get!!
Brandi, I am hoping that the 6 months diet will go quickly if I am required to do that. Good luck with your sleep study! Yes I have done tons of diets but never high protein/low carb so this is quite a bit different for me!!Thats what I was thinking good to get into the habit of it now so well see! Thanks
April,
Congratualtions!! I am glad you go the process started. I have United Health Care and I thought I had the six month weight loss stipulation however, when they called I found out in two daysthat I did not, so I hope you don't. I started my process with the Dr. in March and had surgery in May. Let me know how you make out.
Hang in there! It will happen
