On lock down

Okay all ~ just had to post that this is the perfect end to a very stressful week.  Not only is it my first week back since having RYN, my desk is piled with paperwork, and the scale isn't moving fast enough for my pleasure, but now some crazy man has shot his wife in the face and is now on the run.  Route 50 is closed in both directions (since this morning) and everything in this area is on lock down.  We have police helicopters roving the area and the traffic is crazy.  Imagine a million people on their way to the beach on a Friday night and no road to drive on.  I have no idea when I'm going to get home tonight, so please wish me luck!!!

Lisa - Take a deep breath!!!!  I did see something on the web about Route 50 being shut down, but assumed it was an accident.  Yikes!!!  Don't worry, MSP helicopters are equipped with pretty high-tech heat-seeking instruments, so they'll find him, and I'm sure they've got dogs out, too. As far as the scale not moving fast enough...........um....................how far out are you?  Yeah, that's what I thought.  Your body is still in WTF? mode!!!!!  Sometimes, the scale is NOT our friend.  A better way to gauge is how your clothes fit - or, rather, DON'T fit.  I made a point to try everything on in my closet on Sunday - usually, on Monday, I had bags of stuff to give away.  It will happen.  Just do what you're supposed to do.  Um................wanna trade places???  LOL!!!  I'd kill (kinda) to be a new post-op and know what I know now. As far as the lock-down, well, if a crazy IS on the loose, inside locked down is the best place to be.  Here's hoping you get home before I come to the beach in July!!!  Hugs, Tia

Hey Tia: Thanks for the laugh, if I didn't I think I would cry.  50's been closed from about 10am and they have no idea when it will be reopened.  They are re-routing traffic, but it is at a standstill all these little back roads down here can't handle all this beach traffic.  I know that the MSP has awesome stuff, my uncle used to fly shock trauma.  Only thing is hubby is in Montgomery County today and my Mom is home alone.  She won't answer the phone and she is probably sitting in front of the television worrying about me.  I'm trying to get my aunt to go over there to make sure that she's okay. My clothes are starting to feel better and I just needed someone to tell me that I'm being totally off the wall, so thanks for that.  I need to hide that new scale I just bought.

Lisa - Awwwwwwwww, hugs!!!  I'm so sorry - sorrier though that your Mom is probably worried.  Poor thing!!!  But besides being worried, is she okay there alone? I think I'd be telling hubby to get a hotel room for the night and come home early tomorrow, if that's doable. So your uncle used to fly helicopters?  Actually, everyone thinks MSP a/c are Shock Trauma, but they're not, they're part of our department. Hang in there!!!!!  Tia

Tia: I'm sure she's fine, overactive imagination of a caring daughter.  She had a brain anurysm 16 years ago, and since then I've become her mother.  I did get a hold of my aunt and she's going over to check on her in a little while so I feel better now.  Yeah, I told Larry not to bother trying to make it home so fast.  We have plenty of family in the area that he can stay with, so that's no problem.   Actually it's Larry's Uncle, Major Mike Zeigler (MSP), I think he was out of Hagerstown, use to fly and train for shock trauma.  The called him Ziggy.  Who do you work for?  He's retired from MSP now and working for the marshall service.  He works for Johnny Hughes.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I know Mike Zeigler well!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, I also know Johnny Hughes, well.  I think a lot of Mike, not so much of Johnny!! Too funny!!!! I think when I came on the job, Mike was at our Frederick Section as a First Sergeant.  I think by the time he retired, he was a Lieutenant in the Superintendent's Office.  Now I work for the Administrative Hearing Section/Dept. Prosecutor at Pikesville, but I worked for Aviation for 8 years, which is how I knew/met Mike. T

What a trip.  It's such a small world.  But it seem like every time that I meet someone in law enforcement they know Mike.  He gets around!  Him being shy doesn't help.  (Yeah, right. LOL)

When we had casual day - he used to come dressed in bib overalls!!!  Have you seen him wear them?  He looked hilarious - like this big, bald, black baby!!!!  LOL!!! Um.......shy.  Yeah. Tia

You've got me laughing up in here.  OMG . . . . he still wears them.  Probably the same ones!  You should see him at home when he's cutting the grass or something with those overalls on and a big old straw hat.  He looks just like a farmer.  He and my husband are about the same age and although he is Larry's uncle, they grew up like brothers.  Mike is the baby of 8 children.
